Shot at Newtone and Revathi Studios, and processed at AVM Studio Film Laboratories. It was produced by the Kamal Brothers.
Synopsis
Pudhayal was about imaginary gold buried on a beach, which Vellaiambalam (Balaiah) covets. Padmini and Sivaji meet and talk about how her father (M.K. Radha) in Sri Lanka was implicated in her mother’s murder and imprisoned.Actors

Maragatham narrated the happenings of a rich zamindari family in which the maharaja is murdered and the crime foisted on his innocent brother (Balachandar) and his lovely wife (Sandhya, Jayalalitha's mother). Durairaj plays the interesting role of the villain planning the murder, but the real killer is Balaiah. The prince (Ganesan) falls in love with his sister's daughter without knowing who she is!). Ultimately as it always happens in movies, the truth is revealed, the killers are exposed, the parted couples and the young lovers are united, and all's well that ends well.

Ganapathy (T. R. Ramachandran) has no intention of getting married. His parents have a village girl in view Ragini (Raghini) and ask him to come to Madurai. He goes along with his friend Ambalavaanan (Sivaji Ganesan) who wants to meet his college girlfriend Padmini (Padmini) who is from the same family as Ragini. Ganapathi falls for Padmini not knowing that his pal is already in love with her! The hero rejects the rural girl. Padmini changes her name, lifestyle and get up, and introduces her to Ganapathi. He falls for her and marries her. Soon he realises the truth. However, the problems are solved with the couples living happily thereafter.

"Sikkal" Shanmugasundaram (Sundaram) (Sivaji Ganesan) is a devoted Nadaswaram player, but is short-tempered and sensitive. He meets Mohanambal (Mohana) (Padmini), a Bharatnatyam dancer, and they fall in love with each other. Sundaram's ego prevents him from developing his relationship with Mohanambal, who asks him to play a Thillana on his Nadaswaram while she dances. Mohanambal's mother Vadivambal (C. K. Saraswathi), an influential and mercenary woman, wants her daughter to marry a wealthy man so that she can settle down in life properly. Blinded by love, she disobeys her mother, creating a rift between them. Unaware of her feelings, Sundaram decides to leave the country along with Karuppayi (Manorama), a folk dancer whom he considers to be his sister. Mohana calls him a coward and challenges him to stay, which he readily accepts. In a temple, Sundaram plays the Thillana and Mohana dances. Sundaram, impressed with Mohana's performance, crowns her the title "Thillana Mohanambal". Suddenly Nagalingam (E. R. Sahadevan), a landlord who wanted to marry Mohana, turns up to stab Sundaram with a poisoned knife out of jealousy. He came to the temple to kill Mohana.

Thangam (T. R. Rajakumari) is married to a man old enough to be her father, Rajamanickam Mudaliar (D. Thuraisamy) who has two children from his deceased first wife. The daughter is Lakshmi (S. Padma), and son, Selvam (Sivaji Ganesan). Thangam’s husband dies when she is expecting her baby. Selvam falls in love with a rich girl Malathi (Padmini), while a playboy (T. S. Balaiah) does his best to separate them. When Thangam’s child is born, ugly rumours are spread by Lakshmi that the father of the child is Selvam and the two had an incestuous relationship. Due to quarrel between Lord Shiva and Shakti, Shakti and her son Veerabahu are cursed to be born on earth and live as mortals. Veerabahu is Kathavarayan whom the tribals adopt and he becomes the prince of the mountains. Kathavarayan (Sivaji Ganesan) grows up and goes on a world tour, his mother Shakti blesses him with the divine power of transforming into any form he wishes when he is in danger. During his quests Kathavarayan falls in love with Princess Aaryamala (Savithri). Aaryamala is reborn to a Rajaguru who predicts a tragic life for her, but the King adopts her and names her Aryamala (Savithri). But the King is against their love. Kathavarayan is arrested by the King and taken to be impaled when Shakti prays to Shiva who saves him. Kaathavarayan and Aryamala live happily thereafter.
