It is based on a true story of two teens living in Wyoming, Richard Jahnke and Deborah Jahnke, who were charged for the killing of their psychotically abusive father, Richard Jahnke, Sr.
The made-for-TV movie was filmed at W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas, Texas in 1985 and aired nationally on May 22, 1985, on ABC. The film's leading actors were Frederic Forrest (Oscar-nominated for The Rose in 1979) and Justine Bateman, who was nominated for an Emmy for playing the role of an emotionally and physically abused daughter in this movie.
The movie was a success but it was not released on video in the United States. Some of the acting cast were: Frederic Forrest, Christopher Collet, Karmin Murcelo, Justine Bateman, Ann Wedgeworth & J.

In the early 1920s in Kansas, Eli is a barnstorming stunt pilot, whose wife was killed in an airplane crash. He and his 11-year-old son, Rodger set off to fly around the country on a series of adventures. Wherever he lands Eli finds a new girlfriend, but likes one in particular, Shelby. He, however, does not form any permanent relationships. Rodger, who misses his deceased mother, continually helps out his father, even paying a prostitute (Allison). When Shelby leaves Eli, Rodger is saddened.

A mailman (Henry Jones) speaks about three stories of lives that were completely changed by letters not having come through the mail on time. The first includes Vincent (Martin Sheen), a former member of the army in the Vietnam war, whose wife Angie (Belinda Montgomery) works at a bar for a strict boss, Al (James McCallion). Vincent reveals to Angie that he has recently been fired and can not give her a big marriage, nor can he invest in a garage with his friend Jesse. Even though Angie tells him that she loves him nonetheless, Vincent robs Al in a desperate rage. He quickly becomes imprisoned, and Angie attempts to support him, but Vincent - ashamed - orders her not to visit him again. In prison, he has difficulty forgetting about his fiance. In a letter, Angie informs Vincent that she still stands by his side, and that she was fired from the job, and has since moved away to live near her new job.

In 1940, the Nazis invade the Netherlands. Miep Gies is a young woman, and an office assistant of Otto Frank, who is Jewish. The film is based on a book written by Marie Rothenberg and Mel White and relates the true story of David, a child who was burned over 90 percent of his body by his father. The parents were estranged and the non-custodial father, Charles Rothenberg, fled with David in tow to California, but quickly decided that he could not care for David alone. However, rather than return David to his mother's care, the elder Rothenberg used kerosene to set fire to his son while the boy slept in a hotel room. The movie shows how his mother, Marie Rothenberg, coped with the crisis, and the courage and determination of David.
