Synopsis
Michael, chanteur célèbre, tombe amoureux d'une jeune chanteuse, qui s'avère être sous la coupe d'un promoteur immobilier véreux, qui recourt aux services d'un chef de gang pour créer des émeutes de façon à faire baisser les prix de l'immobilier. Comme Michael s'apprête à abandonner sa carrière pour partir avec la jeune femme, le promoteur vient sur son bateau avec ses comparses, et tranche la gorge du chanteur. Celui-ci devient un clochard alcoolique. La police croit qu'il a assassiné un flic, et cette méprise va être à l'origine de la chute du promoteur.Actors

A stripper runs out onto a Los Angeles street in the Little Tokyo district, in a state of undress, mortally wounded by a gunshot. Journalist Johnny Barrett (Peter Breck) thinks that the quickest way to a Pulitzer Prize is to uncover the facts behind a murder at a mental hospital. He convinces an expert psychiatrist to coach him to appear insane; this involves relating imaginary accounts of incest with his "sister", who is impersonated by his exotic-dancer girlfriend (Constance Towers). Barrett convinces the authorities and is locked up in the institution where the murder took place. While pursuing his investigation, he is disturbed by the behavior of his fellow inmates.

Sergeant Brock (Gene Barry) and Goldie (Nat King Cole) are American Korean War veterans now serving as French Foreign Legion mercenaries in the First Indochina War. Angie Dickinson plays Brock's wife, a "half caste" Chinese Eurasian named "Lucky Legs" who resorts to smuggling to feed her five-year-old son she had with Brock. Brock abandoned her and the child when it was born with Asian features, feeling a "half breed" would not be welcome in America; an attitude towards miscegenation prevalent (in some quarters) at the time. Lucky is recruited by the French high command to use her knowledge to guide a demolition squad of Legionnaires led by Brock to blow up a hidden Viet Minh ammunition dump on the border with Red China. In return for her services, Lucky is promised by the French that they will arrange for her son's evacuation to America.

François est un chômeur passionné de violon. Il voudrait devenir violoncelliste mais son rêve est inaccessible. Comme tous les autres parisiens sans emploi et pour en trouver un, il doit se rendre perpétuellement à l'ANPE. Lors d'un jour de pointage, il y rencontre Isabelle, également à la recherche d'un métier. Ils se lient très vite et partagent le même dégoût pour les fonctionnaires de l'agence qui ne cessent de les rabaisser et de les humilier. Ils décident donc se venger d'eux. Leur vendetta est un succès lorsqu'ils cambriolent deux employés, Mussolini et Desterne, mais dérape lorsqu'un troisième, Tartuffe, meurt accidentellement lors d'un cambriolage. Surpris par François et Isabelle, il tombe dans le vide et se tue. Paniqués, ils sont obligés de s'enfuir.
