Avril 1918. Vers la fin de la Guerre civile finlandaise, les Blancs l'emportent sur les Rouges qui ont enrôlé environ 2000 femmes au cours de cette période tragique de l'histoire de ce pays.
Inquiet pour la santé de sa fille autiste, un père voit comme seule option un enlèvement de l'hôpital par la force. Une panne d'ascenseur empêche une sortie en douceur et les emprisonne avec d'autres. Pourtant l'incident est seulement le commencement d'une descente dans le cauchemar. Alors que les portes s'ouvrent, l'hôpital semble mystérieusement abandonné. Quand des corps mutilés sont trouvés, les créatures venant d'un monde obscur commencent une attaque effrayante. Il apparaît bientôt clairement que la survie du groupe repose seulement sur la petite fille.

Many years ago, in Lapland, a boy named Nikolas is orphaned when his family are killed in an accident. The heads of the families in the village meet to decide his future and, as life in the arctic is difficult, it is decided that as no one family could care for him permanently, they would raise him communally, with each family taking him for one year and then moving him on to the next. Grateful, Nikolas begins whittling toys out of wood as a gift which, each Christmas, he leaves for the family that cared for him. It becomes a tradition from then, with Nikolas never forgets the children of those families that received him each year. When a blight hits the village, and none of the families can afford to take him in for the next year, he is taken in by grumpy hermit Iisakki as his carpenter's apprentice. Iisakki works him hard but Nikolas is clever and quick to learn, and Iisakki gradually grows to love Nikolas as his own son. Nikolas begins to live more and more for the spirit of Christmas with each passing year and it becomes his life and as he grows old he becomes the figure known as Santa Claus.

Mystery of the Wolf tells the story of Salla, a girl who has been abandoned by her mother and falls under the protection of a herd of wolves. After being found and returned to society, Salla still feels a strong connection to wild animals, and as she grows has to decide between her loyalties to her family and to the animals that once protected her.
Koistinen (Janne Hyytiäinen) is a lonely nightwatchman tasked with guarding a shopping mall. He attempts to socialize, but is treated coldly by his manager and subjected to mocking by his colleagues. While he is drinking alone in a bar, he catches the eye of some criminals headed by Lindholm (Ilkka Koivula) who learn of his occupation. Koistinen's only human contact is the grill vendor Aila (Maria Heiskanen) to whom he outlines his plans of starting his own company.

Inspired by the Finnish epic The Kalevala, the story opens with a down-on-his luck novice blacksmith named Kai whose girlfriend, Ronja, leaves him. Ronja tries to dispose of his collection of Asian artifacts and what appears to be an urn full of ashes at an antique dealer. The ashes are his burned up hair and nail clippings, used by blacksmiths to prevent rust. This sets off a mythical series of events that holds Ronja back from leaving town. The ashes open a mythical chest, which causes Kai to remember a past life where he was a half-Chinese half-Finnish warrior named Sintai, fated to battle a demon in ancient China, threatening to enslave all of humankind.
The story is a discussion between Eero and his biological mother (Kirsti), where they are talking to each other and clarifying their misunderstanding and difference in present time. Eero has just come back from his visit from Sweden for Signe's (Swedish mother) funeral.
When a schoolteacher is sacked, he projects his bad mood at his troubled teenage son. The son, in turn, buys a CD player from a pawnshop with counterfeit money. This starts a chain reaction of misery as every victim projects his problems on to another person.

Ainsi, pour maintenir ces hommes primitifs hors de danger, il faut éviter de faire du bruit, s’abstenir de fumer, les distraire en leur donnant des biscuits au gingembre et ne pas consommer d’alcool. Ces précautions s’avèrent être indispensables pour garantir la survie de cette espèce en voie d’extinction…
