Paul Barbeau is a Canadian film producer who lives in Montreal.
He has produced more than 700 music videos, five feature films and has written and directed a feature film. He is presently working on Micheline Lanctôt's next film with his production company Reprise Films.
Paul Barbeau has produced approximately 700 music videos for various international artists (Celine Dion, Arcade Fire, Martha Wainwright, Daniel Lanois, Tragically Hip, and others) with his production company NúFilms which was founded in 2000. After several MuchMusic Video Awards, Victoires de la Musique and Grammy Award nominations, he was forced to end production largely due to the financial impacts of illegal downloading of music.
In the winter of 2009, under financial strain, Barbeau officially shut down NúFilms. The experience inspired him to write and then later direct his first feature film, Après la neige aka Winter Passed (English title), released in 2012.
Under his new company Reprise Films, Barbeau has produced five films. Demain and Jo pour Jonathan were directed by Maxime Giroux, with the latter having its world premiere at the 2010 Locarno International Film Festival. Roméo Onze was directed by Ivan Grbovic, and premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2010 where it received the Ecumenical Jury Commendation. In 2012, he completed Sébastien Rose's film, Avant que mon coeur bascule, which starred Sophie Lorain, Sébastien Ricard and Alexis Martin and premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2013. Barbeau has been nominated for several Jutra Awards in Quebec, including a 2013 nomination for Best Picture for the film Roméo Onze.
Cette fermeture, due surtout au repositionnement des labels majeurs par rapport au téléchargement illégal de musique sur l’Internet, l’amena à débuter l'écriture puis finalement à réaliser son premier long métrage, Après la neige, dont la sortie est prévue en 2012.
En 2009, Barbeau fonde la boite de production "Les Enfants", une boite de production de messages publicitaires qui devient rapidement et demeure toujours un joueur important dans l'industrie publicitaire au Québec.
Mais la fiction étant son rêve premier, il enchaîna sous la bannière Reprise Films, la production de plusieurs longs métrages dont Demain, Jo pour Jonathan (première mondiale à Locarno) et Roméo Onze, réalisé par Ivan Grbovic (première mondiale Festival International de Karlovy Vary (KVIFF), où il reçoit la mention spéciale du jury œcuménique). Ensuite fut Avant que mon cœur bascule du réalisateur Sébastien Rose qui a fait sa Première Mondiale au Festival International de Rotterdam en janvier 2013 et Autrui de Micheline Lanctôt.
Barbeau a reçu quelques nominations aux prix Jutra, dont plus récemment la nomination pour Meilleur film pour le film Roméo Onze de Ivan Grbovic.
En 2018, il agit comme scénariste et réalisateur de son deuxième film, À nous l'éternité (We Have Forever) qui eut sa Première Internationale en Compétition Officielle de la 67ieme édition du Festival International de Mannheim-Heidelberg (IFFMH) en Allemagne.

John Washington (Mark Strong) is a recently widowed man who can enter people's memories. In the past, John used this ability to help solve criminal cases but, after a stroke during a session that goes wrong, he is left incapacitated for two years and financially ruined; he is a shell of his former self. He still owns the beach house where his wife died but refuses to sell it. Desperate for money, John asks his old superior, Sebastian (Brian Cox), for a new job. The case he receives is that of a brilliant but troubled 16-year-old girl, Anna Greene (Taissa Farmiga), who is on a hunger strike. Her stepfather (Richard Dillane) wants her sent to a mental institution which Anna is adamantly against.
