Village Tale is a 1935 American drama film directed by John Cromwell from a screenplay by Allan Scott adapted from Allan Scott's 1934 novel of the same name. It stars Randolph Scott, Kay Johnson, Arthur Hohl, and Robert Barrat; produced by RKO Radio Pictures, they released it on May 10, 1933.

Synopsis

Somerville se sent très attiré par Janet Stevenson, la femme d'Elmer Stevenson, qui tient le village sous son joug. Les commères du coin, par pure méchanceté, convainquent Steve que Janet le trompe. Celui-ci, furieux, décide d'assassiner Somerville avec l'aide de son frère Drury…

Tony and Jim Dunlap are happily married. Abe Lincoln leaves home for the first time, having been hired along with two of his friends by Denton Offut to take a load of pigs by water to New Orleans. The plot is very close to the original play and 1928 movie. Racketeer and mobster Nick Scanlon (Ryan) has managed to buy several of the local government and law-enforcement officials of a large midwestern American city. However, he can't seem to touch the incorruptible police captain Tom McQuigg (Mitchum), who refuses all attempts at bribery. After a military officer (Bruce Cabot) gets Ann Vickers (Irene Dunne) pregnant and leaves her, her baby dies during birth.
