'Anal' Murugan (Vikram) a gym boy who dreams of becoming a successful villain in films lives along with Thambi Ramaiah and his gym co-boys. He bumps into an old man Dakshinamoorthy (K. Vishwanath) who is under pressure from his son Chidambaram (Avinash) to sell his orphanage to a scheming lady politician Ranganayaki (Sana) who is majorly into land grabbing along with her hatchet man 'Vaappa' Abdul Kadhir (Pradeep Rawat). Murugan eventually falls in love with Dharshini (Deeksha Seth). The one-man army Murugan becomes the Dakshinamoorthy’s saviour as Ranganayaki and her men are after them. How Murugan single-handedly fights the powerful politician and brings them to light forms the rest of the story.

A rich estate owner is killed by his second wife and her brother Aadimoolam (Radharavi). The estate owner's son Raja (Rajinikanth) returns from USA and learns of this. In order to bring the culprits to book, he makes his friend Sethupati (Janakraj), a rickshaw puller, act as Raja. But soon, Aadimoolam learns of this and kills Sethu and frames Raja as the killer. Raja is sentenced to death. In between this Raja loves Senkamalam (Radha),sister of an employee in his estate. in the same village where Raja lives, there exists his lookalike, Chinnaraasu (Rajinikanth again), whose aim in life is to wed his sweetheart Lakshmi (Nadia). Raja escapes from jail and meets Chinnaraasu and makes Chinnaraasu take his place in jail. After many a twist and turns, Raja brings the culprits to book. At the end Raja marries Senkamalam and Chinnarasu marries Lakshimi.

Rani Maa's(Reena Roy) husband is killed by the neighboring kingdom's evil Prime Minister Man Singh (Naseeruddin Shah). An amendment in Independent India comes where kingdoms are seized and people from Royal family are no longer rulers. One such kingdom is about to be seized from Vipin Kumar who refuses to lose his position. He continues to rule the jurisdiction as king and compels people to pay tax to him. People protest against this and one such person is police Inspector Dhirendra Singh (Rajesh Khanna). Because of this, he is transferred to a small village. His parents arrange his marriage with Janki (Hema) who is the daughter of Dhirendra's father's childhood friend. But Janki is in love with Manu Pratap Singh (Dharmendra). Due to an enmity between two families, Janki's aunt warns her that their love would not be accepted by Janki's father. But both of them are strong in their love and have an affair. Manu Pratap Singh's younger brother Bhanu (Vinod Khanna) is in love with an orphan girl Kamli. All are happy until Raja Jaipal Singh rapes Kamli and she runs away from the village. Meanwhile Jaipal Singh says he wants to marry Janki, which angers her father as he is the father of teenage girl even if he's a king.

Meanwhile Shobana falls in love Nagarjuna as they eventually get married and have a daughter. Kota Srinivasa Rao becomes a party president as Nagarjuna and Nassar tries to end his schemes and stop their crimes. Salim Ghouse kills Nassar when he and Nagarjuna kidnap him and eventually kidnaps Nagarjuna's daughter. How Nagarjuna saves his daughter and finishes the villains forms the rest of the story.

Ganga lives in Gangotri with her brother, Karam. One day she comes to the assistance of a young man, Narendra Sahay, who has come with a group of Calcutta-based college students to study the source of the holy river Ganga, and to get some holy water for his wheelchair-bound paternal grandmother. Both are attracted to each other, and on the next Puran Mashi get married, and spend the night together. Narendra leaves, but promises Ganga that he will be back soon. Months go by, but he does not return. She gives birth to a son, and as soon as she is able to, she starts her journey to Alipor, Calcutta, to confront Narendra and ensure a better future for their son. At Rishikesh she is exploited by two women and a man from whom she escapes and takes shelter in a crematorium. Then at Banaras, she is molested by a Pandit, rescued by the police and given a ticket to Calcutta. When she alights en route to get water for her baby, the train leaves, and she falls into the clutches of Manilal who feigns blindness and lures her to a brothel near Banaras, where she is forced to stay so that she can provide for her son. It is here that she is introduced to powerful politician, Bhagwat Choudhary, who pays a hefty sum and asks Manilal to bring Ganga to Calcutta where he intends to keep her as his and Jeeva Sahay's mistress. What Ganga does not know is that Bhagwat's daughter, Radha, is Narendra's bride-to-be; that Jeeva is none other than Narendra's father, and that soon she will be asked to dance at his wedding reception.

In a Gujarati village, Ranjaar, infamous for its uninhibited manufacture and sale of arms and ammunition (weapons are sold like vegetables at the place), two clans, Rajadi and Sanera, have been at odds with each other for the past 500 years. The film opens with a violent altercation between the two over petty matters. Meghji (Abhimanyu Singh), a Rajadi head, sets out to kill Bhavani (Gulshan Devaiah) who is a Sanera, after the latter tries to kill the former's son. Bhavani is almost killed but Ram (Ranveer Singh), Meghji's younger brother, intervenes and saves him, only to be reprimanded by Meghji. All the Rajadi elders are irked by Ram's mindset of making truce with the other clan.

Ram (Girish Kumar) is a rich, city boy, born to billionaire parents and brought up in Australia. On the other hand, Sona (Shruti Hassan)is a traditional, simple desi girl from Punjab who is brought up by her only brother, Raghuveer (Sonu Sood). He is heartbroken when their father marries another woman and throws them out of the house, humiliating them on the way. Their mother dies and her tomb is built on the small land which they own until the zamindar tells them that it is his land, since their mother had taken a loan from the man. Raghuveer volunteers to work day and night, to pay off the loan as long as they don't tear down his mother's tomb. The Zamindar agrees and the local station master helps them. Slowly Raghuveer and Sona grow up. One day, Riya, Sona's best friend, comes to their house to invite Sona to their house as she is getting married. Riya's cousin, Ram also arrives on the same day with his mother, Ashwini (Poonam Dhillon).
