Sonu Sood is an Indian film actor, model and producer who acts predominantly in Tollywood, Kollywood, Bollywood, and Kannada films. He has also appeared in commercials for Apollo Tyres, Airtel etc.

In 2009, he received Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Award for Best Villain and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu for his work in the Telugu blockbuster, Arundhati. In 2010, He garnered Apsara Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role and IIFA Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role for the Bollywood blockbuster, Dabangg. In 2012, He received SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for Julayi. He is best known for roles in blockbuster films like Yuva (2004), Athadu (2005), Aashiq Banaya Aapne (2005), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Dookudu (2011) and Shootout at Wadala (2013).

Biography

Enfance et jeunesse
Sonu Sood est né d'un père entrepreneur et d'une mère enseignante. Il a deux sœurs. Il grandit à Nagpur, dans le Maharashtra, où il fait ses études et obtient un diplôme d'ingénieur en électronique.


Carrière
Sonu Sood, qui s’est fait connaître en participant au concours de Mister India, obtient son premier rôle en 1999 dans le film tamoul Nenjinile. Après plusieurs rôles secondaires, il est choisi pour jouer le rôle de Bhagat Singh dans le biopic pendjabi de ce révolutionnaire indien, Shaheed-e-Azam. Il joue ensuite dans plusieurs films en hindi et commence à être remarqué tant pour ses rôles négatifs ou ambigus (en particulier dans Yuva de Mani Ratnam) que pour les scènes osées qu’il interprète dans certains de ces films, tels que Sheesha. Parmi ses rôles marquants dans le cinéma hindi, celui du prince sans terre Sujamal dans le film d’Ashutosh Gowariker Jodhaa Akbar (2008), ou celui de Prem dans Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi, une production Rajshri. En 2010 il joue l’adversaire de Salman Khan dans le blockbuster Dabangg. En 2005 Super, au côté de Nagarjuna, lance sa carrière dans le cinéma télougou, où son plus gros succès à ce jour est le film fantastique Arundhati (2009), dans lequel il joue un aghora (un ascète hindou pratiquant une forme de tantrisme), un rôle qui nécessite quatre à cinq heures de maquillage par jour. Le tournage d’Arundhati se déroule en même temps que celui de Jodhaa Akbar, ce qui oblige Sonu Sood à jongler entre deux personnages très différents. Son interprétation est très appréciée et lui vaut de remporter un Filmfare Award. En 2011, il interprète un pharaon souhaitant conquérir l'Inde dans le film télougou Shakti. Sonu Sood a également joué dans un film émirati, City of Life, en 2008.

Il est à l'origine d'une fondation qui vient en aide aux enfants qui n'ont pas accès à l'éducation. Il est végétarien est milite au sein de l'association People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Bhai (Akkineni Nagarjuna) is the most skilled and trusted enforcer of a Hong Kong-based Don, named David (Ashish Vidyarthi). David is heavily dependent on Bhai for his day-to-day operations and this is resented by David’s sons, James (Sonu Sood) and Tony (Ajay). David sends Bhai to Hyderabad, to finish off an undercover police officer who is disrupting the mafia operations in the city. In the due course, Bhai bumps into Radhika (Richa Gangopadhyay), a horticulturist who falls in love with Bhai after few incidents. However, Bhai never accepts her proposal. Bhai begins hunting down the undercover officer and uncovers his identity. The cop is none other than Arjun (Prasanna) and Bhai decides to finish him off. On the day of the trial, Bhai finds out that Arjun is his brother after seeing his father Raghava along with Arjun. He drops the plan and tries to walk out from the place. But the visuals of Bhai aiming Arjun with a gun are recorded about which Bhai is not aware of. However, Arjun is attacked by a few disguised armed men and all of them are killed by Arjun. Much to the shock of Bhai, one of the deceased is Tony, who sets out to India on the suggestion of James in order to kill Arjun and gain David's appreciation. David is taken aback after realizing the truth and is hell bent on killing Arjun.

Ram (Girish Kumar) is a rich, city boy, born to billionaire parents and brought up in Australia. The movie begins with Bittu (Sonu Sood) planning with the local MLA Varadarajulu (Kota Srinivasa Rao) to rob ₹15 billion (US$230 million) from Vizag Co-operative Bank. Ravindra Narayan a.k.a Ravi (Allu Arjun) is a brainy individual who believes in earning quick money rather than toiling like his father Narayana Moorti (Tanikella Bharani) for every month's salary. He gets into a dispute with his father about his attitude and challenges him that he would convert ₹ 10,000 into ₹ 100,000 in quick time. He happens to meet Bittu on his way, who drops him at his destination. Ravi inadvertently reveals his plan of making quick money by betting on an IPL match and also the location of betting to Bittu and his companions on the way. However, his plans turn upside down when police raid the location and is caught red-handed. During interrogation, Ravi guesstimates that Bittu could have diverted the Police and that he is about to commit a robbery at the Vizag Cooperative Bank. He convinces ACP Raja Manikyam (Rao Ramesh) that Bittu is planning to rob the bank and both go to catch him. Bittu successfully robs the bank and his brother Laala (Shafi) takes the money to the city's dumping yard, as per Bittu's instructions, as the Police follow them. However Police catches Lala, who resists them only to be killed by Ravi. Police try to trace the money but in vain. Meanwhile, Bittu gets arrested but is rescued in transit by his sidekick Devayani (Sheetal Menon). They go to the dumping yard to collect the money, but Bittu is shocked as the dumping yard is burnt to ashes. Having his brother dead and the money burnt, Bittu decides to kill Ravi.

Aishwarya (Ileana D'Cruz) is the daughter of central union home minister Raya (Prabhu Ganesan). Due to some reason, he doesn't allow his daughter to go on a trip with friends. She nonetheless goes to the trip. She then meets a guide, Shakti (Jr. NTR), who takes the group on a trip to several places. At first, she hates him because he uses every chance to get money from her. But when he saves her, she starts liking him. Afterwards, a few people who are chasing her finally find her in Haridwar and try to kill Shakti as he hurt'd them earlier. Their plan fails as Shakti turns out to be a Secret Agent and defends himself and catches the main person in this plan. When Aishwarya goes back to her father, he forgives her and asks whether she had taken a box in which there is a diamond. When she replies in the negative, he says that it is more important than his own daughter. Later, when Shakti goes to a temple, the diamond box falls off a basket his mother brought with flowers on top of it. They inform Mahadevaya who asks them to immediately come to Humpy with the box and Aishwarya. Their travel is blocked by a strong man who is then defeated by Shakti. He then kills one more person who tries to grab the box. Then Mahadeva Raya and a Swami (Nassar) come to him and then the flashback is revealed.

Micheal Velayudham (Pawan Kalyan) is a chef in Cape Town, South Africa. He is an easy going chap who flirts with girls and makes the most of his affairs. His ambition is to go to US and work in New York for a stockbroker. He dates one of his acquaintance Meera Shastri (Trisha Krishnan) an art restoration professional in Cape Town. After a year, they agree to break up as she has to move to India for work and he thinks long-distance relationships don't work. In Cape Town, Micheal meets Senapathi (Paresh Rawal) the owner of a restaurant who narrates the love story of his friend Arjun Palwai (Pawan) with Vasumati (Kriti Kharbanda) which had happened around 1981. Meanwhile, after Meera moves to India, Micheal fails to connect with any other girl. To prove to her that he has moved on, he meets a blonde girl Michelle (Danah Marks) in a bar and dates her. However, Meera is proposed to by her family friend Sudheer (Sonu Sood), a politician, and she agrees to marry him, only to prove that she has moved on too. He comes to India with some pretext and meets Meera. Micheal who is frustrated that Meera married Sudheer, gets desperate and tries to regret what had happened so far in his sorrow he gets an offer for his dream job in US. After initially having joyful moments in his new job, he eventually feels some loneliness which he doesn't understand. The rest of the story focuses on how Michael realises his mistakes and how Arjun Palwai's story makes an impact on his decision.
