In 1976, eight-year-old Mary Daisy Dinkle (Bethany Whitmore) lives a lonely life in Mount Waverley, Australia. At school, she is teased by her classmates because of an unfortunate birthmark on her forehead; while at home, her distant father, Noel, and alcoholic, kleptomaniac mother, Vera, provide little support. Her only comforts are her pet rooster, Ethel; her favourite food, sweetened condensed milk; and a Smurfs-like cartoon show called The Noblets. One day, while at the post office with her mother, Mary spots a New York City telephone book and, becoming curious about Americans, decides to write to one. She randomly chooses Max Jerry Horowitz's name from the phone book and writes him a letter telling him about herself, sending it off in the hope that he will become her pen friend.

Lola (Christa Theret) is a pretty teenage girl living with her mother Anne (Sophie Marceau), who is divorced from Lola's father, Alain (Alexandre Astier). Nicknamed "LOL" by her friends, Lola has been taking her first steps into teenage romance, dating a boy from her class named Arthur (Felix Moati). Following the summer break, Lola's life becomes complicated when Arthur tells her that he cheated on her over the summer and was dating her friend, Lvis. Lola decides to break things off with him and start seeing his close friend Mael (Jeremy Kapone). Lola's friends seem to enjoy complicating matters even more. Life at home has also become impossible with her mother, who has no idea what "LOL" means. She treats her teenage daughter like a child, wondering whatever happened to her sweet little daughter. 18 septembre 2017. Theresa « Tree » Gelbman, une étudiante membre de la sororité Kappa, se réveille le jour de son anniversaire dans la chambre de Carter Davis, un étudiant l'ayant aidé après son énorme cuite de la nuit dernière. Tree, assez superficielle, repousse Carter, refuse les appels de son père, couche avec son professeur, le docteur marié Gregory Butler, et se comporte mal avec sa colocataire, l'infirmière Lori Spengler, même quand cette dernière essaye de lui faire une surprise pour son anniversaire. Dans la soirée, Tree se rend à une fête organisée plus loin dans le campus. Sur le chemin, elle est attaquée et violemment assassinée par un homme portant le masque de bébé de la mascotte de l'université. Tree se réveille aussitôt dans la chambre de Carter et se rend compte bientôt qu'elle est en train de revivre la même journée. Après s'être faite assassiner une seconde fois, Tree comprend qu'elle est bloquée dans une boucle temporelle.

Max, 12 ans, est amoureux d'une fille qui ne le remarque même pas. Élève de 6e, il attend avec impatience une fête pour se rapprocher d'elle. The film takes place in a fictional state of Bubun (or Bubunia), a matriarchal totalitarian country led by ruthless La générale (Generaless) (Anémone). In Bubun, roles of men and women are swapped, up to the point where male population is deprived of any civil rights, including work, education, military service, freedom of marriage etc. People worship The White Horses (making horses sacred animals) and the only source of nourishment is "paste" (tasteless viscous liquid delivered from waterpipe-like sinks). The country is isolated from the rest of the world, borders are guarded by armed squads, and public executions are in order (mostly involving men as condemned).

Whittier (Anne Judson-Yager) arrives at the fictional California State College hoping to join the national champion varsity cheerleading team. She meets up with her friend from cheerleading camp, Monica (Faune Chambers), and they're both impressive at the tryouts. Head cheerleader Tina (Bree Turner) is ready to ask them to join the team, but Greg (Bryce Johnson) goes a step further, telling Tina that Whittier will be the next head cheerleader. This angers Tina's pal Marni (Bethany Joy Lenz), who had the position staked out, but at the urging of Dean Sebastian (Kevin Cooney), Tina goes along with the plan, taking Whittier under her wing. Whittier meets Derek (Richard Lee Jackson), a campus D.J. who immediately takes a shine to her. But Tina is very demanding and controlling. She warns Whittier that Derek is not the type of boy she should be dating. Monica is bothered by Tina's meddling, but Whittier momentarily lets her cheerleading ambition get the better of her, and breaks it off with Derek. Then Tina, upset with Monica's sassy attitude, punishes her which leads to an injury and she forces Whittier to choose between her friendship and the squad. Whittier and Monica get fed up and quit Tina's tyranny, but Whittier's school spirit cannot be suppressed. With Monica's help, she gathers up the outcasts from the drama club, the dance club, and other groups that have lost their funding because of the squad and forms a ragtag squad of her own, determined to battle the varsity squad for a spot at the national championship. The two teams end up competing for the spot at nationals, with Whittier's squad ultimately winning. Afterward Whittier offers Tina a spot on her squad, which Tina refuses but ends up wanting. The film ends with Tina sucking up to Whittier and Monica, deciding she wants to be on their squad after all, while Marni comically throws a fit.
