Duplessis was a historical television series in Quebec, Canada, that aired in 1978. It tells the story of Maurice Duplessis, the controversial premier of Quebec from 1936 to 1939 and 1944 to 1959. It is one of the most famous mini-series in Quebec television history. The series was written (but not directed) by Oscar-winning film director Denys Arcand, and based in large part on Conrad Black's popular biography. The series contains 7 episodes, each one containing a different historic moment in Duplessis's life and path into power. Duplessis is portrayed by Jean Lapointe.
It is distributed by Radio-Canada and is available on DVD.

The film takes place in the summer of 1966. A young girl named Élise is enjoying summer vacation, until her mother suddenly abandons her family. It's then that Élise becomes more aware of the dreams, sorrows, and lies of the people closest to her. At 17, William Lanctôt-Couture (played by Dhanaé Audet-Beaulieu), an ice hockey star player passes through rough times and a depression prior to Christmas. He is unmotivated and lacks purpose and his coach criticizes him for his lack of team spirit. Meanwhile the troubled player's father Benoît (Christian Bégin) is preoccupied with completing a documentary film about the Montreal Canadiens to the detriment of his family obligations and to the detriment of his player son. Toni (Nardi) is the director of a staged rendition of Othello in Montreal. It is a pet project of his, financed by his mafia uncle. Unbeknownst to him, the audiences are also rounded up and paid by the same uncle. Some of them have seen every performance of this tragic play, and are understandably bored, so when the backstage romantic events of the actors result in absurd situations onstage, the audience is delighted. There are a huge number of romantic situations going on in this film at the same time. One of them involves Gaston (Lapointe), a somewhat world-weary jazz musician, and Florence (Marleau), a glamorous middle-aged woman who has been pining for him for years. Another involves to members of the musician's jazz trio. Yet another involves the play's Desdemona, Soledad (Laurier), the girlfriend of the man playing Othello, who can't keep his hands off his dresser. She is also Florence's niece.

Accusé de viol, Ghislain est interrogé toute une nuit par des policiers. Solitaire et timide, il refuse d’abord toute collaboration mais il finit par livrer en flash-back, les circonstances impensables dans lesquelles il a rencontré sa supposée victime. En fait, jusqu’à cette terrible nuit, Ghislain vivait en ermite, dans une routine serrée, avec le seul blues pour passion et son travail de nuit… Dans le même temps, on assiste au parcours de Linda qui a pour unique but de partir vivre à la campagne avec sa fille Charlotte. Pour trouver l’argent, elle use de toutes sortes de fraudes : encaisse les chèques de sécurité sociale, dépouille des hommes qu’elle a d’abord séduit, vole des cartes qu’elle revend, jusqu’à sa rencontre d’un touriste américain qui s’en prend à elle. Deux vies qui n’avaient rien en commun, deux destins qui avaient peu de chance de se croiser avant que l’on apporte à la morgue où travaille Ghislain le cadavre de Linda. Les circonstances troubles dans lesquelles s’opère cette croisée de leurs destinées sont le théâtre d’une bascule dans la vie pour un et dans le désir pour l’autre.
