Based on the life of Monica Proietti, the film stars Céline Bonnier as Monique Sparvieri, a woman in Montreal who turns to a life of bank robbery. The film's cast also includes Roy Dupuis, Patrick Huard, Marc Labrèche, Isabelle Blais, Luc Roy, Louis-Philippe Dury and Rémy Girard.
The film garnered seven Genie Award nominations at the 25th Genie Awards, for Best Director (Houle), Best Actress (Bonnier), Best Adapted Screenplay (Luc Dionne and Sylvain Guy), Art Direction/Production Design (Michel Proulx), Costume Design (Michèle Hamel), Sound Editing (Marcel Pothier, Natalie Fleurant, Guy Francoeur, Carole Gagnon and Antoine Morin) and Original Song ("Le Blues de Monica" by Lorraine Richard, Michel Cusson and Pierre Houle). It won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Synopsis
Montréal, 1967. Monique Sparvieri, une jeune mère a vécu, durant sa jeunesse, sous le joug de la pauvreté et de la violence dans le quartier Centre-sud de Montréal. Après des échecs amoureux cuisants, des fréquentations douteuses l'amènent à explorer le milieu de la criminalité. Laissant sa marque par d'audacieux cambriolages de banques, celle qu'on surnomma Monica la mitraille doit jongler avec sa nouvelle vie de talentueuse criminelle qui, croit-elle, empêchera ses enfants de subir les mêmes affres sociales qui l'ont modelée. Le long métrage tente de tracer un portrait de la célèbre braqueuse de banques.Actors

Le curé d'un sanctuaire et d'un lieu de pèlerinage (qui n'est pas nommé mais ressemble fortement à l'Oratoire Saint-Joseph) engage le jeune comédien Daniel, nouvellement de retour à Montréal, afin de monter une version rafraîchie de la Passion du Christ dans les jardins de ce lieu de culte. Ce dernier réunira une petite troupe de comédiens et en fera une interprétation libre, grandiose et sensible. Lors d'une représentation, des forces de l'ordre interviennent et la lourde croix tombe sur lui. Daniel est transporté en ambulance à «l'Hôpital St.-Marc», un endroit bondé et impitoyable, mais n'y reçoit aucun soin. Il quitte l'hôpital en état de choc et descend dans le métro. Inquiets, deux condisciples l'accompagnent... Daniel, en train de mourir, tient un dernier discours sur l'amour humain qui reste si inaccessible aux gens et qui finit par les tuer: «C'est le manque d'amour qui tue les gens», dit-il. Daniel perd encore connaissance dans le métro. Il est reçu avec humanité et professionnalisme à l'hôpital juif, mais il est trop tard. Ses condisciples donnent «son corps» aux fins de la transplantation. Hautement symbolique, un homme reçoit le cœur et une femme les yeux.

In Prague, Czech Republic, single mother Helena (Isabelle Blais) is seduced by a successful handsome man and travels with him to spend a weekend in Vienna, Austria. She is forced into a child brothel which primarily services sex tourists. In common, the girls become victims of a powerful international network of sex traffickers lead by the powerful Sergei Karpovich (Robert Carlyle).
