The first Senegalese female journalist, she was deeply involved in the development of her country. Both an activist and a non-conformist, she fought for the emancipation of women from the beginning. She divided her life between France, where she studied, and Senegal, where she returned in 1957, sensing that independence was on its way.
Synopsis
Née à Sokone en 1926, Annette Mbaye d’Erneville, la mère du réalisateur William Mbaye, fut la première journaliste du Sénégal. Elle s’est très tôt sentie concernée par le développement de son pays. Militante de la première heure pour la cause de l'émancipation des femmes, elle est à la fois une pionnière et une anti conformiste. Elle a partagé sa vie entre la France, où elle a étudié, et le Sénégal, où elle est retournée en 1957, pressentant que le temps de l’Indépendance était arrivé.Comments

Ce documentaire raconte l'histoire d'un village kényan, Umoja. Pendant près de 30 ans, des centaines de femmes vivant à Umoja disent avoir été violées par des soldats britanniques dans le nord du Kenya. This movie depicts Frantz Fanon's life. A psychiatrist from Martinique, he became a spokesman for the anti-colonialist struggle. In 1952, Frantz Fanon wrote Black Skin, White Masks, an analysis of racism and the ways in which its victims internalize it. In the 50s, he aided the rebels of the Algerian anti-colonial war. Expelled from Algeria in 1956, he moved to Tunis, Tunisia, where he wrote for the rebel newspaper El Moudjahid, founded one of Africa's first psychiatric clinics and wrote several books on decolonization. He died from leukemia in Washington, D.C., at the age of 36.
