Gopalakrishnan (Pandiarajan), a clever cook from Coimbatore, moves to an apartment in Chennai. He becomes quickly popular and appreciated among the apartment's women, however their husbands get jealous of Gopalakrishnan. Meanwhile, he falls in love with Usha (Kushboo). He decides to marry her with the support of his neighbours. After the marriage, Usha has just learned that Gopalakrishnan was already married. Gopalakrishnan got married with a girl (Sindhu) but she was already pregnant and she eloped with her lover that very evening. Usha is upset and refuses to live with him. Later, Gopalakrishnan finds a forsaken baby (by his ex-wife) in a dustbin and leaves the baby to an orphanage. Gopalakrishnan's father (Manivannan), an army officer, comes to live with his son and he helps his son to win back Usha's heart.

Rajaram (Pandiarajan) and his friend Dhanapal (Chinni Jayanth) are college students and they live together. Rajaram's father (Mohan Gandhiraman) decides to arrange the wedding between Rajaram and his relative Sarasu (Divyasri) who is very outspoken. Rajaram is first reluctant about this marriage but he accepts because of his father's insistence. Sarasu really loves Rajaram. In the meantime, Rajaram falls in love with the college girl Shanthi (Sindhuja). When Rajaram proposes his love to Shanthi, she rejects it. Shanthi even so advises him to convince her parents. Ponnappan (Radha Ravi), Uzhagappan (S. S. Chandran) and Azhagappan (Venniradai Moorthy) are three naive villagers who come to Chennai for becoming wealthy. However, they are cheated by the townsfolk. They decide to join hands and they begin to look for an intelligent, bachelor and good partner. The first one who comes to their mind is the lord Ganapathi. They then sign a contract with the lord (statue) : in five years time, Ganapathi will have the quarter of their benefit. The Gurukkal is the witness of this deal. To help them, Ganapathi himself appears as a human (Visu) and he becomes their partner. Five years later, Ponnappan, Uzhagappan and Azhagappan become wealthy and arrogant men. One day, the Gurukkal asks them the quarter of their benefit as promised to build a temple but Ponnappan, Uzhagappan and Azhagappan refuse it categorically. Ganapathi is shocked for being betrayed and decides to teach them a lesson.

Pandian and Pandiarajan are two notorious sons of the village cinema owner V. K. Ramasamy. Pandian goes to a neighbouring village to see a girl as arranged by his father towards his marriage and ends up in the wrong house. Cinematically, those in the wrong house were also expecting a lad to see their daughter on the same-time and the same-day. Contrary to real time arranged marriages pandian goes to see the girl totally un-aided by parents, relatives & friends. Nevertheless, he takes a liking to the girl, Seetha and decides to marry her. Seetha likes the lad and decides to accept the proposal. Meanwhile, Seetha's marriage broker shows up and clarifies that Pandian was supposed to have gone to see some other girl but ended up in the wrong house. Hearing this, Pandian, Seetha as well as Seetha's parents seem disappointed. While Pandian's father fixes dates for Pandian's marriage to the girl originally chosen for him - Revathi, a school teacher's daughter. Pandian's adamance to marry Seetha causes a strange turn of events. Pandiyarajan, the younger brother, finally marries Revathi while Pandian ties the knot with this love Seetha.
