The Fortunes of Fifi is a 1917 American silent historical romance film directed by Robert G. Vignola and stars Marguerite Clark. Based on the novel of the same name by Molly Elliot Seawell, the film is set in France and takes place during the era of Napoleon Bonaparte. The film is now presumed lost.

As described in a film magazine review, the life of Molly McGill (Frederick) has been a hard struggle since birth, and upon the death of her husband in a barroom brawl and her baby daughter in an accident, she offers herself to Harvey Brooks (St. Polis), a broker, to provide money for the education of her son Jimmy (Carroll / O'Malley). She keeps her life a secret from the boy. He grows to manhood, secures a position in the city fire department, and becomes engaged to Dora Palmer (Palmer). Molly breaks with Brooks and sinks to the slum's lowest level. One day while passing the engine room, Molly sees her son taking to his sweetheart. She gets a job as a scrub woman, and later saves Dora from Brooks by stabbing him. The office building catches fire and Jimmy saves Dora, but is unable to save his mother.

Inspired by a staging of William Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, Marion Davies plays Ethel, the spoiled-brat daughter of millionaire Mr. Hoyt (Tom Lewis). Mr. Hoyt decides that a rough-and-tumble he-man might be able to straighten out his daughter. To that end, the millionaire hires Ernest Eddison (Forrest Stanley), the actor playing Petruchio in Shrew. Ethel is on the verge of exploding when Ernest finally wins her over with a lulu of a third-act kiss.

Mary Tudor (Marion Davies), the younger sister of King Henry VIII (Lyn Harding), falls in love with commoner Charles Brandon (Forrest Stanley). There are other plans for Mary, however; she is supposed to make a politically strategic marriage to the elderly King Louis XII of France (William Norris). Brandon is framed for murder, but Mary, disguised as a boy, helps him to escape. Henry tracks down his sister and her lover at a Bristol Inn, and Mary agrees to wed the French king if Brandon's life is spared.
