Mari Collingwood plans to attend a concert with her friend, Phyllis Stone, for her 17th birthday. Her parents, Estelle and John, express concern at the band and at Mari's friendship with Phyllis, but let her go and give her a peace symbol necklace. Phyllis and Mari go to the city for the concert. On the way, they hear a news report on the car radio of a recent prison escape, involving criminals Krug Stillo, a rapist and serial killer; his son Junior; Sadie, a promiscuous psychopath and sadist; and Fred "Weasel" Podowski, a child molester, peeping tom, and murderer. Before the concert, Mari and Phyllis encounter Junior when trying to buy marijuana. He leads them to an apartment where they are trapped by the criminals. Phyllis tries to escape, then reason with the criminals, but she fails and is gang-raped by Krug, Weasel and Sadie. Meanwhile, Mari's unsuspecting parents prepare a surprise party for her.

In 1971, on a visit to his institutionalized grandfather, who warned 5-year-old Billy Chapman that Santa Claus punishes the naughty, his family happens to come across a man in a Santa Claus outfit seemingly having car trouble. Three years later, Billy and Ricky are celebrating Christmas in an orphanage run by Mother Superior, a strict disciplinarian, who persistently strikes children who misbehave and considers punishment for their wicked actions as a good thing. Sister Margaret seems to be the only one who sympathizes with the children, trying to get Billy to open up and play with the children, but they are constantly under Superior's scrutinizing eye and they regularly end up getting punished.

A group of young friends take a trip into the national park near Jotunheimen. In 1974, at the Glensville Sanatorium, West Virginia, Dr. Brendan Ryan (Arne MacPherson) shows local psychiatrist named Dr. Ann Marie McQuaid (Kristen Harris) around the psychiatric hospital. He shows his three deformed patients, Three Finger, Saw Tooth and One Eye (are called themselves as The Hillickers), who all have the ability to sustain injury and not feel it. While Dr. Ryan and Dr. McQuaid move on, one of the mental patients grabs Dr. McQuaid's hair and rips out her hair clip, which she does not notice. The patient gives the hair clip to Saw Tooth. The Hillickers use the clip to pick the lock and escape from their cells. They release the other patients and together they kill the orderlies and the doctors, including McQuaid and Ryan.

In a 19th-century French boarding school for troubled girls, Headmistress Señora Fourneau (Lilli Palmer) forbids her teenage son Luis (John Moulder-Brown) near any of the girls, finding none of them good enough for him. A series of murders begin taking place after the latest arrival of a new student, Teresa (Cristina Galbó), and Fourneau's assistant Irene (Mary Maude). Fourneau investigates these deaths, eventually leading her to the attic where she finds that Luis' frustrated desires have forced psychotic urges to the surface, compelling him to stalk the hapless girls to acquire body parts in order to create his own "ideal woman". Luis then locks up his mother with his new creation so that his mother can get acquainted with her future "daughter-in-law".
