In 2014, a group of miners try to mine as much "smyrigli", or emery, as possible in the mountain of Naxos. They are only able to mine two or three times every year. Apeiranthos, their community on the island, is dwindling due to its dwellers transferring to other more beneficial places in Greece.

The film includes interviews from reporters, staff members, and media experts within several major U.S. newspapers, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and The Wall Street Journal, among others.

Dans 10 on Ten, une seule caméra filme le conducteur qui se trouve être Kiarostami lui-même. En roulant au travers de la campagne iranienne, il évoque devant le spectateur la réalisation de Ten. Ceci est le point de départ d'une réflexion plus générale sur le processus de création du réalisateur, son rapport au documentaire, au sujet filmé, aux caméras numériques et à l'industrie du cinéma.

The second section deals with the career of Charlie Chase. The third section deals with Buster Keaton, The film is a compilation of excerpts from some of these actor's more notable projects.
There are five cameras — each with its own story. When his fourth son, Gibreel, is born in 2005, self-taught cameraman Emad Burnat, a Palestinian villager, gets his first camera. At the same time in his village of Bil’in, the Israelis begin bulldozing village olive groves to build a barrier to separate Bil'in from the Jewish Settlement Modi'in Illit. The barrier's route cuts off 60% of Bil'in farmland and the villagers resist this seizure of more of their land by the settlers.
The film opens as South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone leave New York City and the 2011 opening night of their Broadway production The Book of Mormon to return to Culver City, Los Angeles to begin the fifteenth season of South Park. The documentary chronicles the production of the season premiere, "HumancentiPad", beginning the Thursday prior to airing. Parker and Stone, alongside producers Anne Garefino, Vernon Chatman, Bill Hader, and Susan Arneson, toss out ideas for the episode. Parker mentions his frustration with downloading the latest version of iTunes, and being forced to comply with the software's long list of terms and conditions. The anecdote leads to ideas, with Parker instructing the storyboard team on how to stage a shot. The film covers various aspects of production, including voice acting, animation, lip sync, communication with standards and practices, character design, and editing.
