She trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama and appeared on stage at the Bristol Old Vic and in the West End of London. She has had a successful television acting career. Since 2007, she has appeared on and off in the sitcom Not Going Out, as the mother of Tim (Tim Vine) and Lucy (Sally Bretton).
She has been married twice, including to the actor Jeremy Child by whom she has a daughter.

King Kong and Baldy, the "Aces," part ways in 1986 after a mission in Thailand to kidnap a woman on her way to marry her boyfriend (a rich man claiming to be her husband enlisted the Aces' services) goes sour. Three years later, figures from the famous Terracotta Army and a Qing Dynasty bronze sword called the "Chinese Excalibur" is stolen during their transport to an exhibition in Hong Kong. Roy, an aspiring actor, reaches a dilemma in his career. She meets the young Trevor; a man who persuades him to follow his heart and become a woman. Trevor himself used to be a girl called Gertrude, but had a fake penis implanted and breast reductions. Roy becomes Wendy, and gets with Frank. Frank secretly love Trevor, as he was Gertrude's Childhood sweetheart, in Alabama. Roy's father, who is now Wendy's father, runs away to escape the madness of the situation. Shirley follows him, and joins him in his downward spiral of drug using and alcohol. Mr Waites and Margaret Stephenson try and talk to Frank to tell him Gertrude is no longer the woman she was, and that he should love Wendy for who she is. At the end of the film, Trevor reveals that he was a man all along, and when he was younger he just wore a crudely made orange wig to fool Frank.

Warsaw's liberation allies is actually a terrorist organization under the banner of a revolution and in order to show their strength, they prepare to create a bombing incident when the US business delegates visit Hong Kong to achieve their political objectives. The CIA finds clues and sends Detective Gary Redner (Peter Lapis) to Hong Kong to prevent this conspiracy. Due to the matter of politics, Hong Kong's political department also sends Inspector Lee Ting-bong (Danny Lee) to assist Redner in the operation. The two cops from different environment were incompatible working together at first, but they gradually produced a profound friendship and they work together to shatter the terrorists' attempt to create an explosion and wounded Hannibal (Vernon G.
