Song Hae-sung (born October 11, 1964) is a South Korean film director and screenwriter.

Biography

Song Hae-seong est diplômé de l'université Hanyang en Corée du Sud. Il commence sa carrière en tant qu'assistant réalisateur sur dans les années 1990, travaillant sur les films Susan Brink's Arirang, Rules of the Game et Born to Kill. Il réalise en 2001 son premier film, Failan, qui remporte plusieurs prix. En 2002, il adapte la vie du catcheur Rikidōzan dans le film du même nom, également récompensé.

Il adapte en 2013 le roman Aging Family de Cheon Myeong-kwan, sur un trio adolescent de frères loser qui s'embarque dans une série de mésaventures après être revenu dans la maison de leur mère. De ce film Boomerang Family interprété par Youn Yuh-jung , Yoon Je-moon, Park Hae-il, Gong Hyo-jin et Jin Ji-hee , Song plaisante en disant que c'est un « Avengers du pauvre » (« low-budget family Avengers »).

Film director In-mo (Park Hae-il) is a 40-year-old movie director who's been jobless for the past decade after his debut film was a commercial and artistic flop. Mired in poverty and depressed at his wife's affair, he decides to hang himself. But a well-timed call from his mother (Youn Yuh-jung) inviting him to dinner results in a change of plans. Instead of killing himself, he decides to move in to his mother's home, where his older brother Han-mo (Yoon Je-moon) also lives. A 44-year-old unemployed ex-gangster with five criminal convictions, Han-mo is not particularly pleased at this development. But more trouble lies ahead: younger sister Mi-yeon (Gong Hyo-jin) arrives with her bratty, rebellious 15-year-old daughter Min-kyung (Jin Ji-hee). 35-year-old Mi-yeon announces that she is leaving her second husband, and that she needs to stay with them for the immediate future. In this way, fate has reunited this dysfunctional and rather quirky family, with their petty conflicts, sibling rivalries and largely unexpressed affection, as they struggle with the challenges of middle age.

Every morning, Sun-woo receives a calla lily with a musical note attached to it, and he wants to find out who his secret admirer is. One day he meets the beautiful Ji-hee on the bus and connects her with the daily anonymous gift when he notices the same music from the musical note coming from the flower shop she works at. He falls in love with her at first sight, thinking she is the one who is sending him flowers. Wanting to confess his feelings for her, he asks her out on a date at a local hotel, and she agrees.
