Au printemps, les arbres se réveillent. Deux jeunes arbres anthropomorphes, un garçon et une fille, entament une romance. Mais une vieille souche veut garder la jeune fille pour lui. Le vieil arbre moribond est repoussé par le jeune lors d'un duel. Pour se venger il met le feu à la forêt. Les flammes se lancent après les arbres et les fleurs. La souche se retrouve brûlée tandis qu'aidés par les oiseaux ayant percé des nuages, les fleurs et autres arbres sont sauvés des flammes. Seule celle de l'amour entre les deux jeunes arbres reste allumée.

Immediately attracting a customer, Seymour explains he bought the plant, which he dubbed "Audrey II", from a Chinese flower shop during a solar eclipse. Attracting business to Mushnik's shop, the plant soon starts dying, worrying Seymour. Accidentally pricking his finger, he then discovers Audrey II needs human blood to thrive.

Pocahontas, along with her friends, the gluttonous raccoon Meeko and hot-tempered hummingbird Flit, visit Grandmother Willow, a spiritual talking willow tree, and speaks of a possibly prophetic dream involving a spinning arrow, and her confusion regarding what her "path" in life should be. Grandmother Willow then alerts Pocahontas to the arriving British.
