In the late 1990s, writer Nathan Zuckerman (Gary Sinise) has settled in a lakeside New England cabin following his second divorce and a battle with prostate cancer. His quiet life is interrupted by Coleman Silk (Anthony Hopkins), a former dean and professor of classics at local Athena College, who was forced to resign after being accused of making a racist remark in class. High school teacher and writer Frannie Avery meets a student at a local bar, and when she heads to the bathroom sees a woman performing oral sex on a man. A few days later, Detective Giovanni Malloy questions her as he investigates the gruesome murder of a young woman, whose severed limb was found in her garden. They flirt despite the grisly nature of their introduction, and meet at the same bar later. Frannie is alternately thrilled and frightened by the detective's sexual aggressiveness, even as she grows more disillusioned with the attitudes and crude behavior of other men, including the detective's partner, Richard Rodriguez. Even as Malloy defends his partner, who can no longer carry a gun because he threatened his unfaithful wife, he promises he will do anything she wants except hit her. She leaves abruptly and is assaulted walking home, but calls Malloy and their affair begins that night.

The film opens with Angela Arden kneeling in front of her twin sister Barbara's grave. Angela is a lounge singer who is attempting to resuscitate her floundering career, which became obsolete around the same time Barbara committed suicide. The film is set in Spain where a middle aged man driving his car rams into the rear of another car that is driven by a lady named Sonsoles. They get into an argument and then the frustrated businessman starts harassing her by sending lewd remarks on her phone.He starts to stalk her and this eventually leads him to the school where her younger sister Maria studies. He follows her and introduces himself to her by a false name and a false profession.They start spending time with each other, going to a park and afterwards to the swimming complex.Later Maria comes to know of the real name of the person she is seeing to be Pablo Lopez.However after an initial reluctance she gives in and they again start to see each other.On the other hand,a colleague of Pablo is wooing him hard but he disperses her advances as he has grown to have feelings for Maria.Meanwhile Sonsoles's older lover fixes a device in her landline which traces unknown numbers and hence she knows that Pablo is behind the act.However she does not know about her sister's involvement with him and so she sends goons after him to teach him a lesson.But the story takes an ugly turn when the goons target Pablo Maria is with him and she is molested by the goons though Pablo tries hard to save her but he is captured and when Maria tries to save herself and in self-defense hits one of the goons with her knee she is thrown against a rock and dies on the spot.Pablo overcome by sorrow and grief stays by her until the police arrive and is arrested .In the prison he sees a flashback of Maria and becomes elated.

The film is set in a post-ice age North America, where the local tribesmen believe all creatures are created through the Spirits, who are said to appear in the form of an aurora. Three brothers: Kenai (voiced by Joaquin Phoenix)- the youngest brother, Denahi (voiced by Jason Raize)- the middle brother -and Sitka (voiced by D.B. Sweeney)- the eldest brother, return to their tribe in order for Kenai to receive his sacred totem, a necklace in the shape of an animal. The particular animal it represents symbolizes what he must achieve to call himself a man. Unlike Sitka, who gained the eagle of guidance, and Denahi, who gained the wolf of wisdom, Kenai receives the bear of love, to which he objects, stating that bears are thieves. He believes his point is made a fact when a bear takes some salmon. Kenai and his brothers pursue the bear, but a fight follows on a glacier, during which Sitka gives his life to save his brothers, although the bear survives. Vengeful, Kenai heads out to avenge Sitka. He chases the bear up onto a mountain and kills it. The Spirits, represented by Sitka's spirit in the form of a bald eagle, transform Kenai into a bear after the dead bear's body disappears. Denahi arrives, mistaking Kenai as dead, and believing the bear is responsible, vows to avenge Kenai by hunting it down.
