Le jeune compositeur Franz Schubert doit mettre sa guitare en gage pour payer son loyer. Emmy, la fille du prêteur en gage, est si séduite par son allure simple et amicale qu'elle lui fait payer un montant plus élevé que l'instrument. Bientôt les deux jeunes gens se rapprochent. Le chef d'orchestre Antonio Salieri a entendu parler du talent de Schubert, lui fait passer un entretien et l'engage comme professeur assistant. Schubert est ensuite invité à une soirée pour les nouveaux talents organisée par madame Kinsky. Quand le Viennois présente sa symphonie inachevée, au cours de son exécution, il lui vient soudainement à l'esprit plusieurs fins possibles qu'il présente dans sa ferveur immature. Le public se met à rire, Schubert est en colère et quitte la soirée.

Après une fête de carnaval, la jeune Erika Hansen est reconduite en voiture par deux jeunes hommes ; mais ils se montrent très entreprenants, elle se jette de la voiture et est grièvement blessée et transportée à l'hôpital pour femmes dont le médecin en chef est le Dr. Bruckner. L'opération d'urgence en pleine nuit lui sauve la vie. Le Dr. Bruckner est absorbé par son métier et n'a pas de vie privée. Ses patientes l'adorent, ce qui suscite les ragots parmi les infirmières. Particulièrement avec Ursula Callway qui flirte avec le médecin et l'invite à une fête de carnaval. Il accepte l'invitation malgré les inquiétudes et de venir prendre un café chez Ursula. Ils dansent ensemble et s'embrassent. Alors qu'elle se déshabille pour le séduire, il téléphone à la clinique. Il apprend que l'accouchement de Mme Mägerlein est compliqué et s'en va immédiatement. Ursula est vexée.

The film opens with a proclamation to the White Star stockholders that the value of their stocks is falling. The president of White Star Line J. Bruce Ismay promises to reveal a secret during the maiden voyage of the Titanic that will change the fate of the stocks. He alone knows that the ship can break the world record in speed and believes this will raise the stock value. Ismay and the board of the White Star plan to lower the stocks by selling even their own stocks in order to buy them back at a lower price. They plan to buy them back just before the news about the record speed of the ship will be published to the press.

Lord Arthur Cavershoot consacre sa vie avec un dévouement complet à ses travaux sur Napoléon Bonaparte. Mais il ne néglige pas son épouse qui porte justement le nom de Josephine. Mais contrairement à ce qu'il pensait, Lady Cavershoot accueille Madeleine cordialement, ce qui ne lui plaît pas du tout. En fin de compte, l'amateur de Napoléon connaît son Waterloo et va avec Josephine à Paris afin d'adopter réellement Madeleine comme leur fille.

As the end of the Second World War approaches and the Soviet Red Army is advancing, a group of concentration camp inmates is helped to escape by a Polish doctor. They hide in a wood where they meet other fugitives, who have been there for months, constantly in fear of being discovered. Out of fear of the German army patrols, they do not dare to leave the forest, even as the food supplies run low. The Polish doctor blows up a bridge, attracting the German troops' attention to the forest. The soldiers come perilously close to the hidden fugitives, but in the last moment have to retreat before the approaching Red Army units.
