Synopsis
Chad Turner (Craig Sheffer) is implanted with a biometric computer chip (the Mark of the Beast). The Rapture occurs, and Joseph Pike (Gary Daniels) searches for Turner in hopes of gaining control of the Mark of the Beast. Cooper (Eric Roberts), the head of security of Avanti, the company that created the chip, is held hostage by Pike in order to locate Turner. Chad Turner must stay alive against all odds and keep the chip from falling into the wrong hands. As the story moves forward, Chad becomes more still within his faith and understands the nature of the situation. Just then the rapture happens and Chad decides to escape with his friend, off the plane. They make it out but discover that the tribulation has begun.Actors

A rape victim, comic book artist Lisa Roberts is given the runaround by the New York police. Tired with city life, she heads for the wide open spaces of Arizona. Not long afterward, she is propositioned by lowlife Randall Atkins. She reports this to sympathetic local policeman Steve Smith, who replies matter-of-factly that this is not the first time that Atkins has been accused of a sexual offense. To her amazement, Roberts is later visited by Atkins, who agitatedly warns her not to trust the sweet-natured policeman. Someone is lying about something, and Roberts plainly does not know what to believe. When she finds out, it is nearly too late.

The movie follows the story of Jack Lerolland (Lambert) and his friends and family going for a short country trip. Along the way they are harassed by gangs of murders, led by maniac Cliff (Sheffer). When Cliff kills Jack's brother in a car crash, this is the start of the chain of events which will terrorize the group. Jack is supposedly killed next and the other members of his group are taken to the gangs hideout, with the female members of the group being molested. Meanwhile, Jack is revived and is able to travel to a police station. There he is tricked into a cell and is told to wait there, while the on-duty officer goes to check out the hideout. There, Jack meets Cliff's brother. A police officer later arrives at the hideout and is shot dead by a surprised Cliff. After this incident, Cliff becomes suspicious of some of his gang members and kills one of them. At the station, Jack and Cliff's brother breakout and are about. Jack is again tricked, this time by Cliff's brother, into waiting at the station, while he takes away the police car. Jack subsequently takes another car and reaches the hideout and frees his friends and family.

James Dunn (Wayans), a United States Marine who served in the Gulf War, is wrongly accused of an assassination of an officer he had disputed with. Aspiring comic book artist Josh Baker (Eric Roberts) meets a young woman named Cheryl (Janine Turner) on the streets of New York City, who proceeds to collapse and is rushed to a hospital by an ambulance. On a beach in Australia, two American surfers say goodbye to each other as one is about to leave for his flight back to California. The two men don't notice the large number of dead birds on the beach. On the flight, the surfer returning home starts coughing up blood and dies before the plane can land. Back in Australia, the other surfer is found dead in his apartment. Kayla Martin (Tiffani Thiessen) is a medical doctor with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who has been assigned to the case. She and the local officials carry the body of the surfer out of the plane and start processing people to be put in quarantine until they can be evaluated for exposure. During the transfer, one of the passengers escapes to complete a business deal and unknowingly spreads the virus throughout Los Angeles. It is also revealed that outbreaks of the so-called "riptide virus" (as it comes to be known), an offshoot of the bird flu, are occurring in other cities around the world.
