"Warrior"), released as both The Warrior and The Ultimate Warrior in English-speaking countries, is a 2001 South Korean epic film directed by Kim Sung-su, starring Jung Woo-sung, Ahn Sung-ki, Joo Jin-mo and Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi. The semi-historical story follows the adventures of a Korean peace delegation as they try to get back to Korea through the inhospitable deserts of northern China.
The film is regarded as being one of the biggest motion pictures in the history of South Korean cinema. At the time of its production its budget was the largest ever for a Korean film. It features a high degree of historical accuracy in period costumery, props, settings, and most unusually, language; that is, everyone speaks in their native tongues or through an interpreter conversant in a lingua franca. The film was the 8th highest grossing film of 2001 with over two million tickets sold.
Synopsis
In 1375, a small diplomatic mission from the Korean kingdom Goryeo travels to Ming China to meet the Hongwu Emperor, but they are arrested in retaliation for the death of a Chinese diplomat in Goryeo. They are put in chains and taken across a desert. However, Mongol raiders suddenly show up and kill the Chinese soldiers transporting them, while killing some Koreans in the process. The Mongols ride off, leaving the rest of the Koreans to die of hunger or thirst.Actors

Do-chul is a boxer whose recent string of losses cause him to give up the sport. While visiting a credit bureau on the insistence of the gym owner, he meets Hong-ki who is a habitual swindler constantly scheming while proclaiming he'll own a high-rise building in six years. During his stay at Hong-ki's rented room, he meets Mimi, a would-be actress. Hong-ki tries to seduce Mimi by promising her that he would cast her in a movie. At a party thrown for aspiring actors and actresses, drunken Do-chul creates a scene and gets his head smashed with a beer bottle by Mimi's manager. With this, he ends up in a hospital. Hong-ki runs away with Do-chul's compensation pay, blowing it all on horse race betting. With nowhere else to go, Do-chul stays at his gym. Tired of being hunted down by a collector, Hong-ki kills him as Do-chul is mercilessly beaten inside the ring.

A group of illegal immigrants are smuggled from China to South Korea inside a shipping container, but when it's opened in the affluent Seoul suburb of Bundang by traffickers, it's discovered that all of the immigrants are dead, except for one man, a carrier of a deadly strain of H5N1 (avian influenza, or bird flu). As the man escapes, he quickly spreads the virus to nearby residents. Mir (Park Min-ha), daughter of a single mother Kim In-hae (Soo Ae), meets the man, named Mossai, and gives him some food and tells him to wait as she calls rescue worker and paramedic Kang Ji-goo (Jang Hyuk). However as he arrives, Mossai is nowhere to be found.

During the reign of King Sejong the Great, Joseon Korea faces increasing hostility from Ming China.
