Vishal Veeru Devgan (born 2 April 1969), known as Ajay Devgan and sometimes spelt Ajay Devgn, is an Indian Bollywood actor, film director and producer. Devgan is one of the most popular actors of Hindi cinema. He has won numerous awards, including two National Film Awards.

Biography

Devgan was born to a Punjabi family of Delhi to Veena and Veeru Devgan. Originally from Amritsar, with connections to the Hindi film industry in Mumbai. His father, Veeru Devgan, is a stunt choreographer and action film director and his mother, Veena, is a film producer. Devgan's brother, Anil Devgan, is a Hindi film director.

Devgan graduated from the Silver Beach High School in Juhu and Mithibai College.

In 1995, Devgan's relationship with Kajol began whilst co-starring in Gundaraj. The media called them "an unlikely pair" due to their contrasting personalities.On 24 February 1999, the couple married in a traditional Maharashtrian ceremony at the Devgn house.

The couple has two children. Their daughter was born in 2003 and their son was born in 2010. Devgan and Kajol stored their newborn son's umbilical cord blood and tissues to act as a source of stem cells in case of serious ailments.

In August 2009, Devgn's changed his surname to its current spelling at the request of his family.

Devgan was the first Bollywood personality to acquire a private jet for transport to shooting locations, promotions and personal trips. He is the first Indian to own a Maserati Quattroporte.

On another occasion, a police inspector arrests Jai and hands him over to a group of gangsters led by Pedro (Ketan Karande). Jai single-handedly kills them all and is revealed to be a professional assassin and previous right-hand man of underworld criminal Xavier Fonseca (Anandaraj), nicknamed AJ. After AJ single-handedly rescued Xavier's sister Marina (Manasvi Mamgai) from a bunch of kidnappers, Marina falls for Jai but he rejects her as he is been married to Anusha (Yami Gautam).

Retired teacher and ex-principal Dwarka Anand (Amitabh Bachchan) is an idealistic man. His engineer son Akhilesh's friend Manav (Ajay Devgan) is an ambitious capitalist. Manav cherishes his friend Akhilesh (Indraneil Sengupta) who suddenly dies in a road accident maliciously conducted by Sangram Singh, brother of Minister Balram Singh (Manoj Bajpai).
