Amber Barretto was born in Miami Beach, Florida. Her father is from Peru and met her mother while in California. She grew up in Michigan and New York. She was discovered while competing in the "Little Miss Michigan" pageant where one of the judges owned an agency, and her family later moved to New York City.
Amber was a model for "Eva Joia" (a subsidiary of Gitano Group) Eva Joia produces fashion wear for girls. Amber appeared in numerous fashion ads, for several different magazines in the 1980s. Amber also did commercials for numerous different products. (including one for Campbells Soup)
She auditioned for Hang Time on tape in New York, when Peter Engel, the executive producer of the show, saw the tape and flew her out to Los Angeles. She found out that day that she got the part of "Kristy Ford". After being hired for the show Hang Time, she had four days to go back to New York, get all her stuff and go back to L.A. and find a place to live.
She is best known for her role in the 1989 film Little Monsters, in which she played Kiersten. She also had minor roles in American Dreams and The O.C..
Amber is currently married to Gregory Laks of Beachwood (Cleveland), Ohio. Mr Laks is president of Abode Mortgage Services in Beverly Hills, California.

Film publicist Lee Phillips (Billy Crystal) is tasked with promoting a film featuring movie stars Gwen Harrison (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Eddie Thomas (John Cusack). His job is complicated by the fact that the eccentric director of the film, Hal Weidmann (Christopher Walken), refuses to show him a cut of the film and demands the first viewing take place at a press junket. To promote the film, Lee decides to focus on the two stars: Gwen and Eddie, once known as "America's Sweethearts". Unfortunately, they are now going through an ugly split. As a result of Gwen's affair with Hector (Hank Azaria), Eddie has an emotional breakdown and is at a New Age retreat. Lee decides that his best chance to promote the film is to reunite the couple.

In a story loosely based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's short novel The Gambler, Nick Nolte plays Lionel Dobie, an acclaimed abstract artist who finds himself unable to paint during the days before the scheduled beginning of a major gallery exhibition of his new work. Rosanna Arquette is Paulette, his apprentice/assistant and former lover. Lionel is still infatuated with her, but Paulette wants only his tutelage, which makes things difficult since they live in the same studio-loft. Paulette dates other people, including a performance artist (Steve Buscemi) and a painter (Jesse Borrego).

Lonely after moving away from friends, Brian finds himself blamed for several things he apparently has not done. A quart of ice cream is left in the cupboard, Brian's bike is left on the driveway (causing his father to crash into it on his way to work). Brian insists he is innocent and blames his brother, Eric, who claims to have seen a monster the night before. As revenge, Brian snatches Eric's lunch and tosses it out the window, hitting Ronnie Coleman, the school bully who boards the bus and antagonizes Brian.
