Jacques et son fils Marc sont policiers et doivent retrouver un de leurs collègues enlevé par Claude Bracci, un redoutable gangster qui veut se servir de l'otage comme monnaie d'échange pour la libération de son fils, Cédric. Gérald Boulet was in music from an early age. In the end of the 1960s, he founded the rock band Offenbach with his brother Denis. The group saw great success and peaked in the 1970s with the joining of Pierre Harel. After many years, Offenbach disbanded and Boulet started a solo career with great success in Québec. After many years of drug and alcohol abuse, he was diagnosed with colon cancer and died in 1990, at the age of 44.

Luc et Marco, deux humoristes méconnus, font le tour des petites villes du Québec avec leur spectacle respectif ; le premier, blasé et antipathique, est trop cérébral, alors que l'autre, enjoué et dynamique, est trop vulgaire. Un seul numéro, qu'ils exécutent collectivement, a un certain succès auprès de l'auditoire. Il consiste simplement à insulter publiquement un membre de l'assemblée jusqu'à la limite de l'insolence. Malheureusement pour eux, à l'Anse-au-Pic, une petite localité en bordure de la rivière Saguenay, ils humilient Roger Gendron, le cuisinier timide et renfrogné du casse-croûte local.

À la suite d'une opération policière, un agent double est enlevé par des motards criminels. Deux policiers, le père et le fils qui sont incapables de s'entendre, doivent retrouver leur collègue, et leur seule chance est de faire craquer l'avocat des motards, Charles Bérubé (Rémy Girard). Celui-ci, surveillé de près par la police, est sur le point de trahir la bande mais est inapprochable. Cependant, l'avocat est mis au pied du mur par sa conjointe : pour contrer les tendances suicidaires de son fils, il doit passer avec lui une semaine en forêt pour une thérapie de groupe père-fils organisée par un psychologue (Robin Aubert). Les policiers y inscrivent leur couple père-fils dysfonctionnel pour essayer d'amener l'avocat à collaborer.
