Joginder (real name Joginder Shelly) was an Indian actor, director, producer, writer, singer, songwriter and distributor. Two Hindi films produced–directed–written–acted–distributed by him were "Super Hits" – Bindiya aur Bandook and Ranga Khush. (In Indian cinema any film which runs for over 50 weeks continuously is classified as "Super Hit.") He successfully instituted a plagiarism suit against the producers of one of India's greatest films Sholay for substantially copying his work. The character Ranga Khush was a household name in India in the 1970s, especially among little children who copied his maniacal laugh and rolling eyeballs, and favourably compares with Gabbar Singh who copied him. The film Ranga Khush was a spinoff from Joginder's two-word dialogue in Bindiya aur Bandook (known internationally as "The girl with the gun").
He was often placed on lists of "worst movie directors", a fan-generated title he shared with Ed Wood. In common with Wood, Joginder made a run of cheap and poorly produced films, now humorously celebrated for their unsophisticated special effects, large amounts of ill-fitting stock footage, idiosyncratic dialogue, eccentric casts and outlandish plot elements, although his flair for showmanship gave his projects at least a modicum of commercial success.
His commercial acumen came to the fore when he dared to release his houseful sequel Bindiya aur Bandook-2 against J.P. Dutta's megabudget LOC which flopped. The popular song "Main Hoon Botal Band Sharab" had audiences dancing in the aisles whenever it came on the screen.
Joginder acknowledged that he had no plans to enter mainstream cinema. His "Jhuggie-Jhopdi" (slum) audiences gave him fame and success.
Joginder's film Ranga Khush was repeatedly featured in debates in India's upper house of Parliament, the Rajya Sabha, for its extended rape sequences and insults to religious deities of all faiths.
Like Aamir Khan and Guru Dutt, he was often shy in claiming directorial credit for his hit films which were usually attributed to industry veteran Shibu Mitra.
A trained pilot, he had also worked with late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi before turning actor.

A small town in rural India is being terrorized by wild animals, and bandits. No one is able to stop them from killing and looting the residents. Kumar(Rajesh Khanna) is a very wealthy businessman and lives a comfortable lifestyle with his lovely wife, Asha (Deepika), in a palatial house. The only thing missing from their lives is a son. When Asha gets pregnant, Kumar knows that all his dreams will be fulfilled and his business will be known as "Kumar & Son". Unfortunately, Asha has a miscarriage which results in her death as well as in the death of their son. A devastated Kumar takes to alcohol and devotes his energy and finances to a school for needy children in scenic Mussoorie. It is here he gets to meet the College Principal's daughter, Kiran( Neelam), who he knows is in love with a fellow-collegian, Ravi(Chunkey Pandey). When Ravi takes part in the annual car rally, his vehicle is sabotaged and he is reportedly killed. But the College principal(Om Shivpuri) comes to know that his daughter is pregnant with Ravi's child and when this comes to notice to Kumar, he agrees to lend his own name to the unborn child. Kiran marries Kumar and they lead a happy married life, though Kumar never had physical relation with Kiran. A boy child is born and Kumar gives the kid so much love that the boy is more affectionate to Kumar than his mother. Meanwhile Ravi survives and with the help of his parents (Shafi Inamdaar) wants to return to Mussoorie. Before that could happen, Kiran's father tells them that Kiran is no more, throwing Ravi into a relapse. Months later Ravi does recover, but refuses to get married. Then five years later he finds out that there is going to be another car rally there and despite of his parents' objections, he travels to Mussoorie and this is where he will find out that Kiran is still alive and even has a son, and her husband is none other than the wealthy widower - Kumar. Ravi must now find out why Kiran's father lied to him, and whether or not Kiran wanted to marry Kumar because of his wealth.Kumar's life is drastically changes once Ravi makes a reentry to their lives.

Arjun Singh (Dharmendra) is a dare -devil upright cop who believes in dealing strongly with criminals. D.I.G.Khan (Shammi Kapoor) does not agree with his ways and there is always a disagreement between the two.
