Vidya Sinha (born 15 November 1947, Mumbai) is an Indian actress who has acted in Bollywood films, most known for Rajnigandha (1974) and Chhoti Si Baat (1975).
On 9 January 2009 Vidya filed a complaint with the police accusing Netaji Bhimrao Salunkhe of physical and mental torture. They were divorced soon afterwards, and after a protracted battle she won her case against him for maintenance.

Biography
Vidya Sinha was born on 15 November 1947 in Mumbai. Her father, Rana Pratap Singh, was an Indian film producer, son-in-law of film director Mohan Sinha & his previous name was Sd. Maan Singh, native resident of village Jodhawali, Punjab, undivided India.She married Venkateshwaran Iyer in 1968 and had a daughter, Jhanvi, in 1989. The next few years were spent in taking care of Jhanvi and her ailing husband, who eventually died in 1996. They then moved to Sydney for a few years. She met the elderly Australian doctor Netaji Bhimrao Salunke online in 2001, and married him after a quick courtship and a small temple wedding. The plot revolves around Jeevan Thakur's (Sanjay Dutt) fight against the local cunning money lender Lala (Pran) & his ally Inspector Dushant Singh (Anupam Kher) with revenge for killing his parents. Although scores of people migrate to Bombay, from all over India, most do not even have a roof to live under. Some who are lucky manage to find accommodations but pay very high rents, and others who find accommodations refuse to vacate under any circumstances. Two such tenants are Mrs. Laxmi Abhyankar and her employed daughter, Jaya, who live in a flat in Pali Hill area. They had rented this flat from Lucknow-based Kundanlal Choudhury 15 years ago and have been paying him the same amount of Rs.500/- since then. Kundanlal's son, Anil, comes to Bombay to seek employment, and does get employed. His dad wants him to go and live with the Abhyankars, which he does. He falls in love with Jaya and both plan to get married soon. While in Lucknow, Kundanlal misses his son and re-locates to Bombay, and would like the Abhyankars to vacate the flat. Jaya and Laxmi refuse to vacate, and ask Anil to leave, which he does. Now both Anil and his father reside in a small room, and file a complaint in the local court to arrange to evict the Abhyankars, who have also sworn to fight this matter right to the very end. Watch as lawyers take over their respective lives, get their fees, and get adjournment after adjournment - leaving the Abhyankars and the Choudhurys hanging in suspense as to what is going to happen next.

The story is set around 1580, in the time of King Akbar. Biramdev (Dr Shreeram Lagoo) is the king of Medta, a province in Rajasthan. He has two daughters, Meera (Hema Malini) and Krishna (Vidya Sinha) and a son, Jaimal (Dinesh Thakur). Meera is in deep emotional love with Lord Krishna, so much so that she considers Lord Krishna to be her husband. Akbar (Amjad Khan) is becoming stronger day by day and hence other small provinces are trying to join against him. Medta, in one such political agreement, decides to join hands with Raja Vikramajit (Shammi Kapoor). As a part of this agreement Meera is married (against her wish) to Vikramajit's son, Rana Bhojraj (Vinod Khanna). But even after getting married her love for Lord Krishna remains the same and she follows her own ideals and way of living which are not very acceptable to Bhojraj and his family. One thing leads to another and one day Meera is declared as an outcast and traitor who failed to play a wife's duties towards her husband, a bride's duties towards her family, and a woman's duties towards society. She is jailed and a public trial is ordered to decide her fate. But Meera is still unshakable and her spirituality keeps her going. She is not even afraid of death. Finally she is given a death sentence and is ordered to drink a cup of venom in front of the public.

The film starts off indicating the parallels of the story with that of Adam & Eve. Here, Adam is Ranjeet, Eve is Sharda while the apple is Nirmala.
