Lorsque Daffy demande à Porky "qui est Miss Sush", et que ce dernier se fait battre par une femelle gorille qui s'avère être cette Miss Sush, Porky téléphone au directeur de la Acme Corporation pour lui demander s'il peut devenir le présentateur de l'émission. Lorsque c'est fait, Porky commence à son tour à torturer Daffy.

Mrs. George T. Hardnose is an average mid-century housewife burdened by her aloof and patriarchal husband. She calls her husband to say she wants to go to a movie that night; he says, nothing doing, he's tired, he's worked hard, and what has she done all day. In a series of flashbacks, we see - starting with getting George out of bed and off to work, bathing an obstreperous three-year-old, dealing with stopped drains and a faulty defroster, doing dishes, cajoling a rich uncle, washing clothes, mopping floors, sweeping behind heavy furniture, cleaning the stove and a rug, and cooking dinner. When George asks her after dinner to let him have the paper, she cracks him over the head with a metal pipe wrapped in the paper.

Jane Falbury (Judy Garland) is a farm owner whose actress sister Abigail (Gloria DeHaven) arrives at the family farm with her theater troupe. They need a place to rehearse, and Jane and her housekeeper Esme (Marjorie Main) reluctantly agree to let them use their barn. The actors and actresses, including the director Joe Ross (Gene Kelly), repay her hospitality by doing chores around the farm. Although Joe is engaged to Abigail, he begins to fall in love with Jane after Abigail leaves him in an angry fit. Similarly, although Jane is engaged to Orville (Eddie Bracken), she falls in love with Joe.

The story concerns 13th-century Saxon nobleman Walter of Gurnie (Tyrone Power), who, after sparking an unsuccessful rebellion against the Norman conquerors of his homeland, sets out to seek his fortune in the Far East during the times of Pax Mongolica. Maryam loves Walter but he is too interested in his adventure to pay her any attention. Tristam doesn't like all the killing and decides to get away. He takes Maryam with him, because she wants to go to England.

Unscrupulous newspaper photographer Jack Early (Duff) is sent to take a picture of racketeer Nick Palmer (Brian Donlevy), who doesn't like to be captured on celluloid. Palmer takes a liking to Early and asks him to frame his henchmen Colton (Tierney). Duff double-crosses Palmer and informes Colton that his boss had planned to frame him. Shortly afterward Palmer is killed by a car bomb and Duff becomes famous for taking a picture of the event. Eventually Duff is himself killed by Colton but he manages to snap a picture of his murderer in the act.
