Vijay wants to take revenge on Chakradhar who killed his wife and send him jail and at the climax Ravi, Vijay & Kamal joins together sees end of all the criminals.

Ajay (Jeetendra) & Vijay (Dharmendra) are thieves and best friends who are in jail under punishment, one day they meets a guy Manohar who is going to be hanged next day. Manohar wants to meet Ajay & Vijay as his last wish and tells them his story that his sister Radha was kidnapped by a Taxi driver and raped by a rich house guy Dinesh Lal (Shakthi Kapoor). He, his elder brother Dhanny Lal (Prem Chopra), his friend Som Lal (Annupam Kher) and Inspector Emaandar (Kader Khan) trapped him in the murder case of Taxi driver and from that his parents are also missing; Ajay & Vijay promises Manohar that they will save him and postpones his hanging by breaking his leg. Next day when they releases from jail starts their trails to protect Manohar, first of all they traps Inspector Emaandar and keeps him in their grip with his help Vijay joins as body guard for Dinesh and Ajay traps Dhanny Lal’s daughter Rani (Bhanu Priya) into his love. Vijay loves Emaandar’s daughter Inspector Shila (Anita Raj). In this process they come to know Manohar’s parents are kidnapped by Dhanny Lal & Som Lal only because his father Jagan Nath (Shreeram Lagoo) knows a secret of a treasure. Ajay recognizes that Manohar’s parents are only his parents from whom he was separated in childhood and Vijay recognizes that Jagan Nath as killer of his parents there arises a clash between Ajay & Vijay which cams down after knowing the truth that real culprit was Som Lal who killed Vijay’s parents by wearing mask of Jagan Nath. Finally Ajay & Vijay sees end of all culprits, protects the treasure and saves Manohar from hanging.

Searching for work, Ram Kumar Singh (Jeetendra), comes to Bombay. But on arrival, his wallet and other belongings are stolen. He takes shelter in a taxi belonging to Rahim Khan (Dharmendra), who takes him home, provides him food-shelter as well as a taxi so that he can earn money. Rahim and Ram become close friends. The plot is an intricately woven one. It starts from childhood with the story of Ashok (also called Shoki by his childhood friend Vinod) (Dharmendra) who is a wealthy industrialist's only son. He is passionate about cars from childhood befriends Vinod (Vinod Khanna) who is passionate about trains; its his dream to make India's fastest train. Rakesh (Vinod Mehra) shares same passion as Vinod. Randhir (Danny Denzongpa) is in a tussle from childhood to make a better train than Vinod's. Childhood turns into adulthood and one day both attend a dance function organised by the Indian Railways. This is where Ashok and Vinod fall in love with two beautiful women: Seema (Hema Malini) and Sheetal (Parveen Babi). Ashok is now deeply in love with Seema and they are planning to get married after their engagement. Vinod is married to Sheetal and they have a son Raju. One day Vinod, who is now a top notch railway engineer, gets awarded with the contract to build a super-fast express train between New Delhi and Mumbai. Rakesh (Vinod Mehra) is his assistant. Randhir, the losing engineer and ex-lover of Sheetal, swears revenge and leaves.

Bharat Nagar is a city in modern secular India that is terrorized by a gangster named Bhika, who is protected by the local politician, Gulabchand Jhakotia, his son, Police Inspector Bhushan, and the D.S.P. Anand Saxena. When Inspector Gurdayal Singh accumulates enough evidence to arrest Bhika, he is killed. Bhushan then attempts to molest an activist, Asha, but is stopped by Vijay, her fiancé. But Bhushan kills Vijay and ends up getting killed by Asha. The Police arrest Asha and hold her in a cell without permitting her to meet with anyone including her brother, Aadesh. Then Bhushan's position is filled with Inspector S.P. Jagdishan, who does attempt to bring law and order to this troubled city, and even permits Aadesh to meet with Asha. When Bhika kills the owner of the local newspaper 'Bharat Nagar Times', Jagdishan arrests him after D' Souza's daughter, Mary, comes forward to testify - only to get instructions for his transfer to distant Malegaon, and the immediate release of Bhika - who, together with Gulabchand, are now set to rule over Bharat Nagar - with no one bold enough to stand in their way.
