Synopsis
Trisha Rawlings (Lily Tomlin) is a wealthy, middle-aged Beverly Hills housewife succumbing to loneliness following a separation from her philandering husband Stu (Bert Kramer). One day, she meets Strip (John Travolta), a street-wise young drifter who develops an infatuation with her, follows her to her Malibu beach home and conveniently appears wherever she goes. Trisha also develops feelings for Strip, although not quite to the degree that he feels for her. She enjoys the moments with him, but the difference in age and class has her feeling a sense of shame about their affair, which threatens to undo the romance that they both seek so desperately to continue, despite the difficulties.Actors

George Malley (John Travolta) is an amiable auto mechanic who lives in a small friendly town in northern California. While celebrating his 37th birthday at a local bar, he steps outside and notices what appear to be a ball and shining bright white lights moving around in the sky. The ball then hits him in the head, making a loud sound and knocking him off his feet. When he recovers and re-enters the bar, he learns that nobody else saw the lights or heard the loud sound. His friends playfully suggest that he has had too much to drink.

Set some six years after the events of Saturday Night Fever, former disco king Anthony "Tony" Manero is now 25. He has left Brooklyn, and is now living in Manhattan, staying in a flophouse while he works as a dance instructor and as a waiter at a dance club, looking for his big break in the modern dance productions on Broadway. The breakaway he has from his Brooklyn life, family, and friends seems to have matured Tony and refined his personality, specifically represented by his diminished Brooklyn accent and his avoidance of alcohol and profanity. However, certain attitudes have not changed, as with his most recent girlfriend, the forgiving Jackie (Cynthia Rhodes). Vartan Malt (Bob Hoskins) is the editor of a tabloid called the National Mirror that specializes in unlikely stories about celebrities and frankly unbelievable tales about ordinary folkspersons. Shaun Brumder (Colin Hanks) is a teenager from affluent Orange County, California. Mollie is an accountant living in New York City who has an affair with Albert, a womanizing executive who is married with two children, and becomes pregnant. During her pregnancy, Mollie and Albert keep their indiscretion secret, under the idea she was artificially inseminated, and that Albert plans to leave his wife Beth and their two children to be with her. Mollie and her friend Rona happen to catch Albert fooling around with his interior decorator Melissa and he admits he is planning on living with her after his divorce is finalized. Mollie leaves upset, and immediately goes into labor. She gets into a cab where the driver, James Ubriacco, recklessly speeds through downtown traffic in order to get her to the hospital on time, and he is inadvertently a witness to her son Mikey's birth. Mikey then begins to make commentary on his life and interacts with things through an inner voice which can also communicate with other babies.
