Tony Manetta moved from the shabby area of Bronx to Miami, Florida with two friends searching for wealth and success. Although his two friends became prosperous over the next 20 years (his older friend owns luxury hotels, and his younger friend runs a local taxi company), Tony manages a small hotel called "Garden Of Eden". He grew spoiled, spending money on expensive suits and a Cadillac despite always being in debt and refusing to become more responsible. He is also a widowed father of an 11-year-old son, Alvin.

The film is based on a play by the famous Neapolitan writer Eduardo Scarpetta, father of Eduardo and Peppino De Filippo. The story is set in Naples and Sorrento in the second half of 1800. The thief Felice Sciosciammocca (the surname in Naples means "one who is always with her mouth open in astonishment"; Felice means "Happy") together with the bandit Faina ("Weasel") escapes from prison and meets with a eunuch Turkish that he should go to Sorrento for a service. Don Felice kidnaps him and steals his letter of recommendation to get into the house of the rich man who had been sent the Turkish, so that gains a bit 'of money for him and for his accomplice. The man who had called the Turkish is the rich grocer Don Pasquale, being jealous of his wife and young daughter, betrothed to Don Carluccio holding a dowry, is to host the Don Felice robes Turkish and immediately test some suspicion. In fact, the Turkish rather than look like a eunuch protector proves to be a great womanizer and causes the sympathy of all the girls in the country and the wrath of the young. Don Felice, forgetting appears Faina, have fun in monitoring the wife and daughter of Pasquale and Don Carluccio appears more and more restless by the net waste of his betrothed. In the days to follow Don Felice will be met with the Honourable Cocchetelli who had recommended the real Turkish to Don Pasquale, but can not reveal the truth because Don Felice surprised him with a girl who was not his wife. Is coming the day of the wedding and don Carluccio after an engagement party gone wrong, stormed into the house of Don Pasquale to beat him, but Don Felice intervenes and gives the marching orders to the bully who runs away scared. Thanasis Thanasakis (Thanássis Véngos) est un orphelin qui a été abandonné par sa mère devant un orphelinat expérimental de l'Attique. Il y passe 20 ans. In 1905, Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman living in the Russian village of Anatevka, explains to the audience what keeps the Jews of Anatevka going is the balance they achieve through following their ancient traditions, comparing their precarious circumstance to a fiddler on a roof: trying to scratch out a pleasant tune, while not breaking their necks. The fiddler appears throughout the film as a metaphoric reminder of the Jews' ever-present fears and danger, and also as a symbol of the traditions Tevye is trying to hold on to as his world changes around him. While in town, Tevye meets Perchik, a radical Marxist from Kiev. Tevye invites Perchik to stay with him and his family, and as a deal, offers him food, in exchange for Perchik tutoring his daughters.

A group of lodgers - Major Rayne, Nanette and Pinkie - staying at the home of Dame Beatrice, a formerly wealthy old lady, express boredom with their humdrum lives. A chance for some excitement comes when Lily, Dame Beatrice's beautiful, young housekeeper, one day gives in to temptation and lifts a brand new mink coat from their neighbours. She does this in a misguided attempt to thank Dame Bea by replacing a moth-eaten, and thoroughly worn-out old fur.
