Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (born 16 January 1982) is a Danish actress who made her debut on the television series The Eagle in 2005. She followed this by playing Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago in Copenhagen and on the West End. Sørensen's breakthrough role was as journalist Katrine Fønsmark in the television political drama Borgen (2010–13).

Birgitte Hjort Sørensen est diplômée de l'école nationale danoise de théâtre et de danse contemporaine. En 2005, elle a fait une apparition dans la série télévisée The Eagle: A Crime Odyssey avec un petit rôle. Elle acquiert de la popularité sur scène avec la comédie musicale Chicago au Det Ny Theater de Copenhague. Three years after the events of Pitch Perfect, the Barden Bellas are now led by Beca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick) and three-time super senior Chloe Beale (Brittany Snow). In the late 2030s, solar flares irradiate the Earth, killing over 99% of the world's population. The survivors gather in a network of safe cities and build primitive humanoid robots, called Pilgrims, to help rebuild and operate in the harsh environment. These robots have two unalterable protocols: they can not harm any form of life, and they may not modify any robot. Initially seen as mankind's salvation, they are relegated to manual labor when they fail to stop the advance of desertification. Society has regressed due to lack of technology besides the Pilgrims (lack of functional planes or other transport prevents travel and cars are a rare commodity) and humanity is on the brink of collapsing.

Nils (Stellan Skarsgård) is a snow plough driver somewhere in Norway. He learns that his son has died, supposedly of a heroin overdose. During the filming of a nature programme in the Indonesian rain forest, a British TV crew discover a rare white flower, but are attacked and killed by a Danish hermit, Severin Geertsen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Severin, who is sentenced to death for the crime, claims he is 129 years old and that it is the leaves of the flower that have kept him young. Criminal psychiatrist Adrian (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) and his assistant, Beate (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen) are sent to Indonesia by the Danish authorities to mentally examine Severin. Although the claim that the flower gives eternal life sounds like a hoax, within hours Adrian, Severin and Beate are fleeing from international fortune hunters and the Indonesian army, who all want to acquire the flower.

Advocate Jonas Bechmann is going through a crisis. It has been one year since his father died in a car crash. Although the police have not pursued the case, Jonas believes it was, in fact, murder, connected to the last case his father worked on. To investigate the murder, Jonas quits his job and applies for the post at the law firm his father left open when he died. He is denied the job but told by his father's old partner, Martin Schiller, that evidence has been found his father took a bribe to make evidence disappear that incriminated his last client, Claes Kiehlert. Furthermore, Martin implies that Jonas' father was killed because the evidence turned up in court after all.
