James O. Barrows is a Actor American born on 29 march 1855
James O. Barrows (March 29, 1855 - December 7, 1925) was an American stage and film actor. He spent much of his adult life in the legitimate theater from the Victorian to Edwardian to Georgian eras. In 1919 he began appearing in silent feature films playing elderly roles much like theater colleagues of his generation i.e. Melbourne MacDowell, Ida Waterman, Joseph J. Dowling, Frank Currier and Theodore Roberts. Barrows can be seen in several surviving silent films, his last being the 1925 John Barrymore starrer The Sea Beast completed just before his death.

At the beginning of the story, Ahab (John Barrymore) and his half brother Derek (George O'Hara) compete for the affections of a winsome minister's daughter, Esther Wiscasset (Dolores Costello). Meanwhile, an albino whale has been eluding harpooners, and bears the scars of many failed attacks against him. The animal's fame has reached epic proportions. One day, Ahab and Derek are on the same whaler as the whale heaves into view. Ahab raises his harpoon to kill the beast, but at that moment, Derek pushes him overboard and Ahab loses a right leg to the whale. Not long after this incident, the shallow Esther rebuffs Ahab as her suitor once she catches sight of his peg leg. Heartbroken at this turn of events, Ahab blames neither Esther nor his brother; instead he transfers blame and an undying hatred onto the whale. The following saga of Ahab's pursuit of the whale takes on the aura of a super-human quest, far beyond the proportions of its first motivation.

William Tudor has a huge debt and is forced to give up his family castle. He sells it to war millionaire John Kershaw and goes to London to visit his granddaughter Irene. Meanwhile, Tudor's nephew and Irene's sweetheart Owen travels to South Africa to oversee his father's mines. Irene becomes a chorus girl at the Gaiety Theatre. Here, John's son Christopher Kershaw falls in love with her. She doesn't want to have anything to do with him, but becomes desperate after her father gets ill. She gets the message Owen has been killed in the war and agrees to marry Christopher. Right after the marriage, an alive Owen shows up at the castle. Meanwhile, a huge chandelier crashes down on Christopher's head. He is now killed, which makes Irene and Owen able to reunite. Owen buys the castle back from John and Irene's grandfather comes back to his home.

American millionaire Samuel C. Adams brings his daughter Dorothy to England to see a specialist about her heart trouble. So that she will not be hounded by the press and fortune hunters, Dorothy makes herself up to look extremely plain. Impoverished Lord Paul Menford spies her without the hideous disguise and falls in love with her immediately. When he is mistaken for his uncle, the heart specialist Adams seeks, he goes along in order to meet her. Meanwhile, his agent sells the Menford family estate to Adams. Joe Cumberland trouve "Dan le siffleur" dans le désert et lui offre l'hospitalité dans son ranch, après l'avoir soigné avec l'aide de sa fille Kate. Après un échange de prisonniers, Dan suit la piste des hors-la-loi et les tue tous à l'exception de Silent. Les deux adversaires en viennent aux mains et Dan étrangle Silent. Sa revanche accomplie, Dan se calme et s'installe avec Kate.
