Kenichi Yoshida (吉田 健一, Yoshida Ken'ichi, born November 23, 1969 in Kumamoto Prefecture) is a Japanese animator and illustrator. He is a graduate of Tokyo Designer Gakuin College. He is a member of Japan Animation Creators Association (JAniCA).
In 2005, he was awarded the individual prize in the 10th Animation Kobe awards. In 2006 at the Tokyo International Anime Fair, he was given the character design award for his work in Eureka Seven.

Biography
Upon joining Studio Ghibli in 1990, Yoshida worked on Only Yesterday and Porco Rosso. In 1999, he left Studio Ghibli to become freelance. Currently, he is focusing on working on Sunrise and Bones works. He is good friends with fellow animator Akira Yasuda (Akiman) and has collaborated with him in numerous productions.In 2005, he was awarded the individual prize in the 10th Animation Kobe awards. In 2006 at the Tokyo International Anime Fair, he was given the character design award for his work in Eureka Seven.

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie is set on Mars in the year 2071, forty-nine years after Earth was mostly abandoned after a catastrophe. Humanity has settled on other planets and moons in the solar system. The film's protagonists are legalized bounty hunters who travel together on the spaceship Bebop. In Muromachi period Japan, an Emishi village is attacked by a demon. The last Emishi prince, Ashitaka, kills the demon before it reaches the village, but its corruption curses his arm in the battle. The curse gives him superhuman fighting abilities, but will eventually kill him. The villagers discover that the demon was once a boar god, Nago, corrupted by an iron ball lodged in his body. The village's wise woman tells Ashitaka that he may find a cure in the western lands Nago was exiled from.

The video begins with shots of a vacant village, overgrown with weeds, and the concrete sarcophagus of a covered-over nuclear reactor in the background. As the music begins, the scene changes to a sci-fi-style nighttime military-style police raid on a cult. Futuristic flying troop transports crash through the windows of a tower topped by gigantic neon-lit eyes and occupied by armed defenders. The policemen exchange gunfire and grenades with cultists whose hoods depict an enormous eye. The victorious police begin to sort through the bodies of the cultists, two policemen find what appears to be a girl, lying unconscious, with large feathered wings on her back.

The story begins in late 1960s Japan. A group of tanuki are threatened by a gigantic suburban development project called New Tama, in the Tama Hills on the outskirts of Tokyo. The development is cutting into their forest habitat and dividing their land. The story resumes in early 1990s Japan, during the early years of the Heisei era. With limited living space and food decreasing every year, the tanuki begin fighting among themselves for the diminishing resources, but at the urging of the matriarch Oroku ("Old Fireball"), they decide to unify to stop the development.

In 1982, Taeko is 27 years old, unmarried, has lived her whole life in Tokyo and now works at a company there. She decides to take another trip to visit the family of the elder brother of her brother-in-law in the rural countryside to help with the safflower harvest and get away from city life. While traveling at night on a sleeper train to Yamagata, she begins to recall memories of herself as a schoolgirl in 1966, and her intense desire to go on holiday like her classmates, all of whom have family outside of the big city.
