Rose Marie "Tantoo" Cardinal, CM (born July 20, 1950) is a Canadian film and television actress.

Biography

Elle est née à Fort McMurray dans l'Alberta. Elle descend d'Indiens Cris et de colons européens.

Depuis les années 1980, elle joue des rôles d'Amérindiennes au cinéma à Hollywood, et à la télévision américaine et canadienne.

En 2009, elle est faite membre de l'Ordre du Canada pour sa contribution dans les arts.

En 2011, elle est arrêtée avec l'actrice Margot Kidder lors d'une manifestation à Washington contre l'oléoduc Keystone.

En 2017, l'Académie canadienne du cinéma et de la télévision la nomme au prix Earle Grey pour l'ensemble de sa carrière.

Prudence Macintyre (Jane Seymour) is the host of the fictitious hit "do-it-yourself" television show Dear Prudence giving our 'Pru Pointers' to her viewers. The film opens with Pru recording a point on how to water plants whilst away, by filling a bucket of water, tying one end of some cotton twine around a brick and the other end is pushed into the plant pot. When the brick is left in the bucket, the water will work its way up the cotton into the plant pot. As she yawns through the segment, she is interrupted by her boss who insists that she take the company jet and fly to his lodge in Wyoming for the week to rest.

The film opens with Eagle Boy, a young man who is on a vision quest. It then cuts to the present, where a 17-year-old Lakota named Shane Chasing Horse is living on the Pine Ridge reservation. He is in trouble because he owes some money to a local gang—money he used to buy a beautiful ring for Mae Little Wounded, a girl he likes. Meanwhile, his mother asks him to drive his grandfather, Pete Chasing Horse, a storyteller, down to the powwow. Shane is reluctant. However, when the gang comes after him, Shane changes his mind and heads out to the powwow with his grandfather, who agrees to give him his truck once they reach the powwow. Grandfather tells Shane the story of a young Lakota man who tries to win the hand of Bluebird Woman. He also tells the story of how a thunder spirit falls in love with a Mohawk woman and brings her up into the ethereal world of Sky Woman, and of how she raised their son back in her village until he was struck by one of the villagers and brought back to live with his father.
