Alan Armstrong (Kane Richmond) as the Spy Smasher is a costumed vigilante and freelance agent, not associated with the US government as the country has not yet joined its allies in World War II. After discovering information about Nazi activities in occupied France, he is captured and ordered to be executed. However, with the help of Pierre Durand (Franco Corsaro), he escapes back to the United States, meeting with his twin brother Jack (Kane Richmond). Jack is incorrectly recognized and attacked killed by Nazi agent on American soil codenamed The Mask (Hans Schumm). Eve Corby (Marguerite Chapman) plays Jack's fiancé. The Mask, operates from a U-Boat near the coast.

Dorothy "Dot" Burton (Faye Emerson) is a member of a gang of bank robbers. Using her femininity and a cute dog provided her by her male cohorts who dognapped him, she is able to enter a bank before opening time, leaving the door open and the bank guard holding her dog, thus enabling a successful robbery. When police interfere with the getaway she faints and proclaims her innocence, however the police have strong doubts as "her" dog won't come to her and has a different name on his collar than what she calls him. After she confesses to her part in the robbery, she is sent to women's prison where she makes enemies of fellow inmates seeking Dot's share of the money.

In the Christmas spirit, Boston Blackie decides to entertain the inmates at his old "alma mater" by bringing a variety show headed by clown Roggi McKay (George McKay). Roggi drops one of his showgirls, Eve Sanders (Adele Mara), as she has already visited her prisoner brother, Joe Trilby (Larry Parks), the maximum allowed number of times that month. However, Blackie kindheartedly lets her come along. Inspector Farraday (Richard Lane and Detective Joe Mathews (Walter Sande) unexpectedly join the group on the bus, just to keep an eye on Blackie. When Joe manages to escape from prison, by tying Roggi up and putting on his costume and makeup, Farraday suspects Blackie helped him.

Le rideau s'ouvre sur une scène de théâtre où une reproduction du tableau du Yankee Doodle The Spirit of 76', peint par Archibald Willard, occupe le fond. Surgit Bugs Bunny jouant du pipeau avec une carotte, scène quasi identique à celle terminant le cartoon A Wild Hare (1940). Bugs croque la carotte et commence son discours patriotique en citant les figures emblématiques des États-Unis et tout d'abord de l'Oncle Sam, avec une certaine familiarité. Il revient en portant le chapeau aux couleurs du drapeau américain et la barbe blanche symboliques de l'Oncle Sam. Bugs lance des « war bonds » à pleines poignées, comme des tracts, et chante une chanson dont les paroles incitent l'assistance à acheter ces bons, qui « garantiront la liberté ». Il continue en dansant puis entame une parodie d'Al Jolson, artiste de music hall très populaire en Amérique et très lié au monde du jazz (il se maquille souvent en noir dans ses spectacles). Bugs prend les traits de Al Jolson et reprend brièvement son titre « Mammy », transformé pour l'occasion en « Sammy » (l'Oncle Sam). Porky Pig (en marin) et Elmer Fudd (en fantassin) rejoignent Bugs, chantent et dansent avec lui devant le public. L'image de la publicité pour ces bons vient clore le film.
