It released on 27 August 1999. It was a success. Shahrukh Khan earned a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Performance in a Comic Role. It is inspired from films such as Nick of Time, Rush Hour, If Looks Could Kill, Mr Nice Guy, The Mask. Shahrukh Khan is also known as Baadshah of Bollywood, a name derived from this film.
Synopsis
Baadshah (Shahrukh Rukh Khan) is a young man still living with his mother who wishes to follow in his late father's footsteps by working as a detective. He runs Baadshah Detective Agency out of a Mumbai office full of cheesy detective gadgetry. In his employ are his loyal and helpful friends, and his chief assistant Ram Lal (Johnny Lever). Though Baadshah tries hard to pass his agency off as highly sophisticated and constantly busy, he actually receives little business, and is desperate for a big break.Actors

After acquiring the possession of the company owned by Vishwanath Sharma (Anant Mahadevan) using trickery, Madan Chopra (Dalip Tahil) dismisses Vishwanath from the company to exact a revenge on the latter, leaving the Sharma household to undergo distress and illness which claims the lives of Vishwanath and his little daughter. A spell of lasting grief casts over Vishwanath's wife (Rakhee Gulzar), while his son Ajay (Shah Rukh Khan) determines to take vengeance on Madan for his family's tragedy. 15 years later, a grown-up Ajay courts Seema (Shilpa Shetty), one of Madan's two daughters, while dating Priya (Kajol), the other daughter with a false individuality named Vicky Malhotra, keeping everyone ignorant of his dual-identity. The scary part of the film starts now, when a vindictive Ajay pushes Seema from a building to death making it, to all appearances, look like a suicide while Priya, with a strong belief of Seema's death to be a murder, determines to find out the killer with the help of her friend Inspector Karan (Siddharth Ray).

A voice-over by RD (Anil Kapoor) introduces the four main characters: Ranvir Singh (Saif Ali Khan) who runs a successful business he inherited from his father. His younger brother Rajiv Singh (Akshaye Khanna) who mooches off of Ranvir and is an alcoholic. Ranvir is dating an upcoming model Sonia (Bipasha Basu), while his personal assistant Sophia (Katrina Kaif) appears to be secretly in love with him. Mastermind Charlie Mascarenhas (Abhishek Bachchan) and his accomplice Riya (Bipasha Basu) are one of the greatest pair of thieves in India.
