Après dix ans de vie commune, émaillés de nombreuses tromperies mutuellement convenues, un couple bourgeois semble au bord de la séparation. À vrai dire, c'est plutôt Livio (Ugo Tognazzi) qui se sent sérieusement menacé. Jean-Claude, le nouvel amant de sa femme Liza (Monica Vitti), a effectivement tout pour plaire : jeune, beau, sportif et... milliardaire. Doc Savage (Ron Ely) returns to New York City following a visit to his Arctic hideaway, the Fortess of Solitude. He learns that his father has died under mysterious circumstances while exploring the remote interior of the Central American Republic of Hidalgo. While examining his father's personal papers, Doc finds himself the target of an assassination attempt. Doc Savage chases and corners the sniper on the nearby Eastern Cranmoor Building, but the would-be assassin loses his footing and falls to his death. Examining the body, Doc discovers that his assailant is a Native American with peculiar markings; his fingertips are red, as if dipped in blood, while his chest bears an elaborate tattoo of the ancient Mayan god Kukulcan. Returning to his penthouse headquarters, Doc finds that intruders have destroyed his father's personal papers. Vowing to solve his father's murder, Doc Savage flies to Hidalgo with "The Fabulous Five", his brain trust, at his side.

The film is divided into four episodes. In the first Paolo Villaggio plays the role of a sailor from Genoa who learns from his doctor that he will soon become a woman. He begins to make plans and to daydream of what it will be like to be a woman. In the second episode Adriano Celentano is a former dancer in Emilia Romagna who now trains a woman for boxing fights. When he meets a beautiful emilian girl who is enrolling in a dance competition where a large sum of money will be awarded to the winners, Adriano does not miss the opportunity. He first tries to kill the boxer woman he works with, called "King Kong" and then leaves to go dancing with the girl, winning one turn after another. But as the couple wins the first prize Adriano is arrested by the police. In the third episode Renato Pozzetto plays the role of a poor mason from Milan who bets with some friends that he will be able to seduce the wife of his boss. Renato will succeed but will pay the consequences. In the last episode Alberto Sordi plays the role of hick Roman Nando Moriconi (same character of the film Un americano a Roma by Steno - 1954), this time he works as a body guard of a prominent Italian financier who has been the victim of many attempts to kidnap him .

When Old Man Barnard (Anthony Kenyon), a millionaire, is reported drowned at sea his gold digging sons Paul (Karl Lanchbury) and Martin (Chris Chittell) come looking for their inheritance. Arriving at the Barnard family estate they renew an old enemy in Adam (Michael Watkins), their father's butler. He tells them the Barnard mansion has to remain locked and bolted until the will is read, begrudgingly all three men and their girlfriends will have to stay in the neighbouring farmhouse over the weekend. Unbeknown to him Adam is Old Man Barnard's illegitimate son, a fact Paul and Martin are determined to keep from him. Secretly they fear the whole inheritance will go to Adam. With their privileged lifestyles hanging by a thread the Brothers Barnard decide to pursue Adam’s finance Nicole (Jenny Westbrook). Reasoning that she will know where Adam has hidden the keys to the mansion, so that they can break in and destroy evidence of Adam’s parentage.

In a city on Spain’s Costa Brava, Clara Valverde, a young beautiful woman, lives with her husband Juan. They seem to have a perfect marriage.
