Frenzy (Turkish: Abluka) is a 2015 Turkish drama film directed by Emin Alper. It was screened in the main competition section of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Prize.

It was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.

Synopsis

Istanbul dans un futur proche : Kadir purge une peine de 20 ans de prison et se voit proposer une libération anticipée. En échange, il s’engage à aider la police dans la traque contre le terrorisme et accepte d’être leur informateur. Une fois dehors, il reprend contact avec son petit frère Ahmet, chargé par la mairie d’abattre les chiens errants de la ville. Mais entre chaos politique et obsession paranoïaque, la violence qui entoure les deux frères et la pression de leurs autorités les entraînent dans une spirale infernale.

Les trois sœurs Reyhan (20 ans), Nurhan (16 ans) et Havva (13 ans) vivent toutes avec leur père dans un village isolé du centre de l'Anatolie. L'une après l'autre, elles ont été envoyées en ville pour travailler comme domestiques, mais elles sont toutes désormais revenues. Nurhan est la dernière des sœurs à le faire. Elle a battu le fils du médecin local parce qu’il mouillait son lit toutes les nuits. Lorsque Reyhan est rentrée enceinte, son père l'a mariée à la hâte au berger Veysel. Un jour, Veysel, en état d'ébriété, se soulève contre l'aîné du village. Ses actions ont des conséquences dramatiques. Même si le rêve d'un avenir meilleur ne se réalise pour aucune de ces jeunes femmes et qu'elles semblent toujours se disputer, elles restent néanmoins fermement soudées. Pendant qu'ils attendent que les routes enneigées redeviennent praticables, père et filles passent le temps en se racontant des histoires.

After the end of World War II, a former P.O.W., Canadian RCAF flyer Laurence Gerard (Powell), returns to France to discover who ordered the killing of his bride of only 20 days, a member of the French Resistance. His father-in-law Etienne Rougon identifies Vichy collaborator Marcel Jarnac. He supposedly died in 1943, but Rougon has strong doubts. Jarnac was so careful about maintaining his anonymity, there is not even a description of him on record. Gerard finds the partially burned front page of a dossier on Jarnac and an envelope addressed to Madame Jarnac in the rubble of the home of Jarnac's closest associate. The return address on the envelope indirectly allows Gerard to track the widow to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
