Helen is a 2009 American drama film starring Ashley Judd and directed by Sandra Nettelbeck. It follows a professor (Judd) who overcomes severe depression after a massive breakdown, with the help of new friend Matilda (Smith). Filming took place late 2007 in Vancouver.

Synopsis

Belle, brillante, mariée à David, mère d’une adorable jeune adolescente et professeur de musique, Helen semble avoir la vie parfaite. Elle semble… en effet, car en réalité elle camouffle un lourd secret depuis plusieurs années. Elle souffre d’une dépression profonde qui l’empêche de vivre sa vie. Même si sa famille et ses amis tentent de la sortir de l’abîme, personne ne comprend vraiment sa souffrance, elle trouve alors refuge auprès de l’un de ses élèves. Il est clair que la seule personne capable de sauver Helen, c’est… elle-même.

Martha Klein (Martina Gedeck) is a chef at Lido, a gourmet restaurant in Hamburg, Germany.
