Synopsis
This musical comedy pöaying in wartime London, stars Arthur Askey as Arthur Bowman alias Miss London, the name of the escort agency, he inherited from his mother. Soon he is joined by his new American partner Terry Arden (Evelyn Dall), as she inherited the other half of the Agency from her parents, who just arrived from abroad. T first thing she accomplishes is to clean up the office together with her partner.Actors

Paul Scofield plays Johnny, a slimy, small-time music promoter and talent scout who notices teenage girls going crazy for the singing and bongo playing of talentless and seemingly idiotic Herbert Rudge (played by James Kenny). Johnny rechristens Rudge as "Bongo Herbert" and signs him to a contract that gives Johnny a 50% share of the profits. With Johnny's help, Bongo rockets to stardom. Bongo's success attracts a host of sleazy music industry types intent on exploiting him. Johnny quickly finds himself outclassed in the sleaze department as Bongo turns out to be the slipperiest slime of them all.

Après qu'un agent secret britannique a été tué à Beyrouth par des communistes, le Colonel MacGillivray persuade le docteur Jason Love d'aller au Moyen-Orient pour trouver ce que cet agent avait découvert. À Beyrouth, il apprend que les communistes prévoient d'assassiner le Prince Zahlouf, proche des Britanniques, dans le but de compromettre des accords sur le pétrole. Bien qu'il fasse échouer la tentative d'attentat, il est obligé de se réfugier sur le toit d'un château pour échapper à la foule en colère. Il y est secouru par un hélicoptère russe, la "colombe de la paix". Jason y retrouve Vikki. Elle essaye de le sauver mais est abattue. Jason arrive néanmoins à sauter de l'hélicoptère. Un message de MacGillivray lui propose une autre mission, mais il décline l'offre.

As the Pacific War draws to an end, the commandant of the Blood Island prisoner-of-war camp has let it be known that should Japan surrender, he will order the massacre of the entire captive population. When the prisoners hear through underground sources that Japan has indeed surrendered, they mobilise themselves to try to prevent the news reaching the commandant. Colonel Lambert (Morell), the authoritarian self-appointed leader of the prisoners, deems that they must sabotage communications between the camp and the outside world, and arm themselves in however makeshift a way in readiness for a final showdown.

The lost remnants of a British Army Brigade headquarters make their way through the Burmese jungle, retreating from the Japanese. A lone man walks through the sweltering streets of a deserted London. The film then goes back several months. Peter Stenning (Judd) was an up-and-coming journalist with the Daily Express but a messy divorce has thrown his life into disarray. His Editor (Christiansen) has begun giving him lousy assignments. He begins drinking too much. (One of his lines is, "Alcoholics of the press, unite!") Stenning's only friend, Bill Maguire (McKern), is a veteran Fleet Street reporter who offers him encouragement and occasionally covers for him by writing his copy.
