Seasoned con-man Nicky Spurgeon (Will Smith) goes to a nightclub, where an inexperienced grifter, Jess Barrett (Margot Robbie), seduces him, and then pretends they've been caught by her jealous husband. When the deception fails, Nicky advises them never to lose focus when faced with unexpected situations. Jess finds him in another nightclub a few days later and convinces Nicky to become her mentor. The film takes place in 1983, primarily in Amsterdam and centers in a group of five Dutch friends: Willem Holleeder, Cor van Hout, Jan Boellard, Martin Erkamps and Frans Meijer. Looking for easy money, they decide to kidnap Heineken owner, the tycoon Freddy Heineken in order to achieve a very high ransom. Although successfully capturing Heineken and his driver Ab Doderer, the group eventually face difficulties due to their lack of experience in crime. They fail to negotiate with the police, and Cor has to deal with the responsibilities of taking care of his pregnant wife, Sonja. After Heineken is finally released by the police, Willem and Cor flee to Paris and Willem frequently tells Cor to not call Sonja because the calls could be traced by the police. Although initially reluctant, Cor gives in to his emotions, resulting in the two being arrested by the French police while leaving their apartment.

Miranda Wells, a nurse living in a small town, has a nice life. She is about to become a surgical nurse and is buying a new house. She's single and one of her friends sets her up on a blind date with a man named Kevin. On the day of the date, while she's still getting ready, Miranda hears someone outside on the porch. She opens the door and finds, who she assumes is Kevin standing there, and invites him in. She offers him some lemonade and goes into her bedroom to finish dressing. While she is changing, he notices packing boxes in the house and asks her if she is moving. She replies that she is, and when she comes out of her room she sees he is blocking the door. She starts to feel uneasy and asks him to leave and come back later for their date. He refuses, but she insists that he leave so she can finish getting ready. He walks to the door and locks it. He then attacks and rapes her. Later he is seen running away from the house as someone else comes to the door and knocks. The door is ajar and the man, the real Kevin, comes in calling out for Miranda. He finds her in the kitchen and calls the police. Miranda is next seen in the hospital, beaten, and having a rape kit and photos taken by the police. The police ask if she had ever seen the man before, and she says that, actually, she had. They quickly go and arrest the rapist, William Finn.

Bob Ladouceur, the coach of the De La Salle Spartans, watches his team win the championship of their undefeated 2003 season. Following tradition, the seniors share their stories about what the team means to them. Jane, an operative for the private intelligence firm Hiller Brood, is assigned by her boss Sharon to infiltrate The East, an underground activist, anarchist and ecologist organization that has launched several attacks against corporations in an attempt to expose their corruption. At Kinetech Labs, an inventor named Allan Topher designs a robot for search and rescue, but when he finds out that the robot will be used for military purposes, he programs the robot to flee. The robot escapes but is damaged in the process. It is discovered by 12-year-old Henry Keller, who fixes it and names it Cody. The robot does not remember its past, and Henry and Cody develop a friendship. Eventually, Cody regains his memory and Henry gives Cody back. The inventor feels guilty for taking Cody away, so he returns the robot to Henry. Allan meets Henry's mother, Joanna, and they get along really well. Kinetech finds and corners Cody and Henry. Cody activates another function of his, and takes off with Henry, flying high up into the sky. They reunite with Meagan but when they call their mother, they find out that Kinetech has kidnapped both their mother and Allan so that they can get the robot back. Meagan, Henry and Cody embark to save them and to bring down Kinetech.

The story follows the characters of Molly (Bledel), a struggling waitress, and Gus (Levi), a jewelry store employee. Gus and Molly met through a chance encounter when Gus is at Molly's diner ordering a coffee. Molly sees Gus making notes in his pen recorder and when he goes round back to take a phone call leaves a message on it saying her name. Molly and Gus then begin to date, and it is learned that Gus has a memory defect where he can not make new memories and forgets the day every time he sleeps. Trouble ensues as he does not tell Molly this and she finds him recording all their meetings. Gus tries to explain, but Molly mistakes this for being odd. A few weeks later and Molly returns to the apartment to find Gus's sister who explains and gives her the scrapbook Gus made entitled "Molly" he made to remember her. Molly visits the hospital where Gus Is under observation and introduces herself as his girlfriend and gives him the scrapbook so he can remember their relationship. We learn that Gus was meant to be the next Einstein working at Nasa in California, before his accident. Molly takes Gus there, where he meets old colleagues who tell him his work will help understand the universe much better. Whilst there Molly meets Gus's ex girlfriend who warns her any serious relationship with Gus will mean he won't remember their kids and other events in the long-term, and Gus also tells her to leave him if an operation to cure his disease does not work. Gus's sister tells Molly that Gus has already had this operation, however, but that it did not work. That night Molly sees a note on Gus's laptop for his to do list for the next day "Ask Molly to marry me". Molly deletes the note as a result of what Gus had told her to do and Gus wakes up the next day having never remembered Molly. Molly continues her life with a quarter million pounds she got from her great Aunt's will and starts a flower business. One day, at a wedding, a shooting star appears and Molly is reminded of Gus. She visits him the next day and hints to Gus that they know each other and asks him for coffee. The movie ends.
