Charles Robert Band (born December 27, 1951 in Los Angeles, California) is an American director, writer, and producer, mostly known for his work on horror films.

He is the son of director-producer Albert Band, and brother of the composer Richard. With his former wife Meda, he had two children, Alex, the vocalist for the band The Calling, and Taryn. He had two sons with his former wife Debra Dion: Harlan and Zalman. Band's grandfather was the artist Max Band.

His most famous films are those in the Puppet Master franchise and the Subspecies series, made by his company Full Moon Features. Before Full Moon Features, his earlier (and now defunct) company Empire Pictures made films like Ghoulies and the cult classic Re-Animator.

One of the few non-horror films he worked on was the Prehysteria trilogy, which were made by his family oriented company Moonbeam Entertainment.

Biography

Starting in the 1970s, Band formed Charles Band Productions. Dissatisfied with distributors' handling of his films, Band created Empire Pictures in the early 1980s. Through Empire, he could produce and distribute his films ensuring proper distribution and return on profits. Empire entered the video market with Wizard Video during this time, which released films by others in addition to Empire product. At the height of its run, Empire produced 12 theatrical and 12 direct-to-video films a year. Wizard produced two games for the Atari 2600 in 1982: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween based on the films of the same names and both quite controversial at the time for the levels of violence. Citing the fall of the Italian lira, the Rome-based Empire closed its doors in the late 1980s and Band returned to the States. There he formed Full Moon Productions which was quickly changed to Full Moon Entertainment and later became Full Moon Studios and Full Moon Features before settling on the current Full Moon Pictures.

During this time, Band produced exclusively with Paramount Home Video before parting ways with that company in 1994. Since then, Full Moon has been an independent company, producing and distributing solely for the home market. Notable side companies have included Moonbeam Entertainment, Filmonsters, Action Xtreme, and Pulsepounders all of which produced films aimed at kids and tweens as well as Torchlight Entertainment and Surrender Cinema which produced soft-core films for the adult market. In addition, Monster Island Entertainment produced low-budget "man in a rubber suit" monster movies, Alchemy Entertainment later Big City Pictures created urban horror, and Pulp Fantasy Productions specialized in non Full Moon type horror. For a short time in the early 2000s, Full Moon became Shadow Entertainment when Band felt the company's product had strayed too far from the brand that he had created. During this time, many of the films were produced by J. R. Bookwalter's Tempe Entertainment. Since 2004, Band has taken a more active hand in the company, producing and directing almost every film released. In 2004, the Wizard Video line was reintroduced.

For a short time, fans could buy a line of toys based on characters from the films such as Shrieker, Radu from Subspecies and the Puppet Master puppets as well. Branded Full Moon Toys, this line lasted a couple of years. More recently, the Monster Bra line has been created, specializing in gag brassieres. CD soundtracks have been released through the Full Moon Records line including many works by Band's brother Richard and comics based on Dollman, Puppet Master, Subspecies and Trancers were released through Eternity Comics.

Rewind This ! est un documentaire consacré au boom des VHS, de la révolution que l'apparition et la prolifération des cassettes vidéos ont entrainé, et leurs conséquences aujourd'hui. The film begins with the Potter family moving into a new apartment complex in San Francisco. While unpacking, their young daughter Wendy is attacked by a grotesque little creature, who had long ago been transformed from a powerful wizard into a troll. Using a magic crystal green ring, it captures Wendy and possesses her form. After meeting the other eccentric tenants, the family notices Wendy's unusual behavior (roaring, biting, tossing people across rooms, punching people in the groin), but they attribute her behavior to the stress of the move. The only one that notices something is terribly wrong is Wendy's brother, Harry Potter Jr.

Moebius gladly takes the prize, which immediately kills SS Soldier #1. Moebius "sets her free" by shooting her in the head. While this takes place, the puppet Blade watches from the shadows. The next morning, Danny and Beth are recovering at Danny's house. Danny tells the rest of the puppets that he couldn't revive Ninja, but they will get back Tunneler. Blade appears and informs them of Ozu's death and Tunneler's capture by the Nazis. Danny and Beth respond to a knock at the door only to be grabbed by mysterious men in suits. Meanwhile, in a secret lab in Chinatown, Docter Freuhoffer, a German doctor with a fixation on dolls, is working for Moebius to develop a machine that can reanimate the dead. The seductive Uschi, a Nazi, tries to motivate the doctor only to be interrupted by Moebius. He demands a demonstration of the machine. He brings in a Japanese man and slits his throat. The machine makes him walk for a moment only for him to decay and fall down. Freuhoffer promises to fix the machine. Moebius reminds him that if he doesn't, his daughter will be killed. He then presents him with Tunneler to study.

The film begins with Larnell (John Patrick Jordan) pacing around in his new dorm room, looking afraid. Responding to a sudden knock at the door, Larnell admits Alister McDowell(Brett Chukerman), whom he had called over. Asked how things are going, Larnell admits to Alister that he is on the run, having burned down the college's administrations office from a belief that the reason their parents are forcing them to go to school is because they are being taken control of from underneath the government, trying to control their minds into becoming like them. He is even considering writing a number one best seller about it. Larnell also tells him that Bachman (Mitch Eakins) now has a job at Sloppy Burger and remains his roommate. Alister asks Larnell why he called over and Larnell tells him that something has gone wrong with Bachman. Bachman then returns from work and starts describing how his day had gone, which had led to him being fired, until he drops onto the floor, fast asleep. Larnell explains that this was what he was trying to tell Alister. Alister explains it as narcolepsy and that Bachman needs medical help. Larnell also explains that he and Brett (Brian Lloyd) also have problems. Brett and his girlfriend Luann (Robin Sydney) both come to the apartment, where Brett is shown to have gained substantial weight. Larnell then suddenly starts humping Luann's leg, and explains to Alister that his sexual urges make him pounce like a cougar. Alister then realizes that Larnell, Bachman and Brett were the first ones to smoke from the bong and are the only ones who were killed within the bong world, which is probably the reason for neither Luann nor Alister experiencing side effects.
