O'Keefe was married to rock/blues singer Bonnie Raitt from April 27, 1991 to November 9, 1999 when they were divorced. He has been a practicing Zen Buddhist since 1981. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Bennington College. He married actress Emily Donahoe in 2011.Best films
