William Windom (September 28, 1923 – August 16, 2012) was an American actor. He was perhaps best known for his work on television, including two episodes of The Twilight Zone. He portrayed Glen Morley, a fictional congressman from Minnesota, a role based on Windom's own Republican great-grandfather and namesake, in the ABC sitcom, The Farmer's Daughter, with Inger Stevens as his beautiful young housekeeper.

Windom also achieved fame as the character of John Monroe on the sitcom My World and Welcome to It, for which he won an Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series; as Commodore Matt Decker, commander of the doomed USS Constellation in the Star Trek episode "The Doomsday Machine"; the character Randy Lane in the Night Gallery episode "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar"; perhaps the most common recurring character, Dr. Seth Hazlitt, on the CBS series Murder, She Wrote, and for voicing Puppetino in Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night.

Biography

William Windom est né à New York, sa mère est Isabel Wells (née Peckham) et son père, Paul Windom, architecte. L'homme politique William Windom est son arrière-grand-père.

Il sert pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale comme parachutiste au 508e Régiment d'Infanterie de Parachutistes, et dans la 82e Division d'Airborne. Il saute en Normandie lors du Débarquement de Normandie.

Il joue son premier rôle dans 'To Kill a Mockingbird' en 1962.

Il est surtout connu pour ses rôles à la télévision dans des téléfilms tels que Star Trek mais surtout Arabesque aux côtés d'Angela Lansbury en tant que son ami le Dr Seth Hazlitt.

Selon sa veuve,Patricia Tunder Windom, il est décédé à l'âge de 88 ans d'une insuffisance cardiaque à son domicile.

Il a eu quatre enfants Rachel, Heather, Hope et Rebel et quatre petits-enfants.

Grace Rhodes is a medical student who returns to her hometown of Grand Island, Nebraska, to take care of her mother, June (Karen Black), who has become paranoid and refuses to leave her yard. She is having recurring nightmares of being attacked by children. Grace also has to look after her younger siblings James and Margaret. She takes a job at Dr. Larson's local clinic, where she'd worked prior. James and Margaret become ill and show symptoms similar to those of the children in June's dreams. The next day, while working at Dr. Larsen's office, Grace notices that many other kids have the same symptoms. During the night all of the kids in town get worse as their fevers skyrocket. When Cole's Department Store's Santa Claus gets drunk before taking part in the Thanksgiving parade, Dorey Walker (Elizabeth Perkins), Cole's director of special events, fires him and must find a replacement immediately. She spots an old man (Richard Attenborough) berating the inebriated Santa, and begs him to take over. He introduces himself as Kris Kringle. Kris does so well during the parade that he is immediately hired to be Cole's main Santa for the holiday period. All the children in New York begin to believe that he is the real Santa, with the exception of Dorey's six-year-old daughter Susan (Mara Wilson). Dorey's boyfriend, Bryan Bedford (Dylan McDermott), does his best to convince Susan to believe. While being babysat one night by Kris, Susan shares with him her Christmas wish, she would like a dad, a house (used every year for the Cole's catalogue photoshoot) and a baby brother. Kris asks if she would begin to believe in Santa if she got all those things. Susan agrees that she would.

The film begins by following a tour group at a memorial museum dedicated to Nancy Archer. The patrons are shown a film with Dr. Loeb, who explains that the events surrounding Nancy Archer were true. Neal Page is trying to return to his family for Thanksgiving in Chicago after being on a business trip in New York City, but is held up by an advertising executive who spends the entirety of the meeting looking at the three pictures to choose to launch their ad. On their way out, he tries to find a cab and successfully hails one, but is beaten to the punch by another man (Kevin Bacon in a cameo appearance). Del Griffith, a traveling salesman, interferes by leaving his trunk by the side of the road causing Neal to trip while racing a man for a cab, then inadvertently snatching the taxi ride that Neal bought from an attorney. The two meet again on the flight from JFK Airport to O'Hare; the plane is diverted to Wichita due to a blizzard in Chicago. What should have been a 1-hour and 45-minute New York-to-Chicago flight turns into a three-day ordeal, in which everything that can go wrong does.

Funland is a family-oriented amusement park owned by the eccentric Angus Perry. Niel Stickney, the clown mascot and one of the founders of the park and its former accountant, suffered a nervous breakdown and his grip on reality is slowly deteriorating. After the mob kills Angus and takes over the park, Stickney begins to have increasingly bizarre hallucinations, including envisioning the patrons of the park cafeteria spontaneously breaking into song and dance and seeing visions of the dead Angus. He then begins to believe himself to be his clown persona, Bruce Burger. After the new mafia management fires him, he finally snaps. He buys a rifle, intending to kill his replacement and reclaim the theme park.
