Il est surtout connu pour sa collaboration, à plusieurs reprises, avec trois réalisateurs. Le premier est Frank Borzage (ex. : The Circle en 1925, avec Eleanor Boardman, et L'Isolé (Lucky Star) en 1929, avec Janet Gaynor et Charles Farrell). Les deux autres sont Victor Schertzinger (ex. : Man and Maid en 1925, avec Renée Adorée) et Jerome Storm, le plus souvent sur des films ayant pour vedette Charles Ray.

Biography
Chester A. Lyons débute comme chef opérateur en 1917. Il contribue en tout à quatre-vingts films américains, dont les trois-quarts muets, jusqu'en 1936. L'avant-dernier est Robin des Bois d'El Dorado (1936) de William A. Wellman, avec Warner Baxter. Le dernier est White Hunter d'Irving Pichel (avec Warner Baxter et Gail Patrick), sorti le 25 novembre 1936, deux jours avant sa mort brutale, d'une crise cardiaque.Il est surtout connu pour sa collaboration, à plusieurs reprises, avec trois réalisateurs. Toni and her father Matthew Martin live in the sequoia forests of California. While Toni is out walking she finds a puma, which she names 'Gato' and a young fawn that she calls 'Malibu'. Toni and her adopted animals become friends quickly. After several years, Toni and her father leave the woods and Gato and Malibu are returned to the wild. Later, when Toni and her father return, they find that the animals in the area have been decimated by logging and hunting. With aggressive hunting parties roaming the area, it is up to Gato and Malibu to survive.

Actress Yvonne Orlac (Frances Drake) rests after her final performance at the 'Théâtre des Horreurs' (styled after the Grand Guignol) in Paris, France. As she listens to her husband Stephen Orlac (Colin Clive) play the piano on the radio, she is greeted by Dr. Gogol (Peter Lorre), who has seen every show featuring Yvonne, and unaware of her marriage, is aghast to learn that she is moving to England with her husband. Gogol leaves the theater heartbroken, buys the wax figure of Yvonne's character, refers to it as Galatea (from the Greek myth), and arranges that it be delivered to his home the following day.

Movie star Lola Burns (Jean Harlow) is angry with her studio publicist E.J. "Space" Hanlon (Lee Tracy), who feeds the press with endless stories about her greatness. Dot (Haley), une jeune fille sollicitée par la gente masculine qui "ne pense qu'à ça" fait le pari, alors qu'elle se promène avec sa meilleure amie Edna (Gombell) à Coney Island, qu'un certain jeune homme qui ne semble pas s’intéresser aux femmes lui adressera la parole. Eddie, le jeune homme en question qui dit d'abord s'appeler Joe (Dunn) est sérieux, bourru, et économise sou par sou pour ouvrir sa propre entreprise. Dot et Eddie tombent amoureux et Eddie finit par proposer le mariage à Dot, un peu pour lui éviter d'affronter son frère lorsqu'il la raccompagne à quatre heures du matin. Très vite le jeune couple doit faire face à son passé : Dot a perdu sa maman à sa naissance et Eddie vient d'une famille très pauvre. Lorsque Dot se rend compte qu'elle est enceinte elle n'ose le dire à Eddie persuadée qu'il ne désire pas d'enfant car il soutient que les parents sont fous de mettre des enfants au monde.
