Matthew Rhys Evans (born 8 November 1974), known as Matthew Rhys, is a Welsh actor best known as Kevin Walker in the ABC family drama Brothers & Sisters, and as Dylan Thomas in The Edge of Love. He stars as Philip Jennings in the FX drama series The Americans.
On 15 July 2008, Rhys was honoured by Aberystwyth University as a Fellow. On 8 August 2008, he was honoured at the Welsh National Eisteddfod by being accepted as a member to the druidic order of the Gorsedd of the Bards, for his contributions to the Welsh language and Wales. His bardic name in the Gorsedd is Matthew Tâf. In August 2009, Rhys took to the stage with the National Youth Orchestra of Wales as part of the National Eisteddfod.
Rhys has been in a relationship with his Americans co-star Keri Russell since 2013.

Biography
Rhys was housemates for nearly 10 years with fellow Welshman and actor Ioan Gruffudd, and served as best man at Gruffudd's wedding. Both are patrons of Trust PA, a UK spinal injuries charity.On 15 July 2008, Rhys was honoured by Aberystwyth University as a Fellow. En 1965, l'analyste Daniel Ellsberg se rend sur le front de la guerre du Viêt Nam pour y observer l'avancement des troupes américaines, pour le compte du secrétaire à la Défense, Robert McNamara. En 1971, Daniel Ellsberg travaille désormais pour RAND Corporation. Il décide de photocopier secrètement des rapports sur le progrès du conflit au Viêt Nam, depuis la présidence de Harry S. Truman à 1967, révélant le double discours des différentes administrations américaines sur les chances de victoire des États-Unis au Vietnam. Les gouvernements successifs ont ainsi caché au peuple américain la réalité de l'enlisement du conflit. Daniel Ellsberg divulgue alors des informations au New York Times. Le journal est cependant mis en garde par la justice, sous la pression du président Richard Nixon, sur les conséquences de la publication d'informations nationales classées secrètes. D'abord sur la touche, le Washington Post va récupérer le scoop grâce à la motivation de son rédacteur en chef, Benjamin Bradlee. Ce dernier va inciter la directrice du journal, Katharine Graham, à publier les fameux Pentagon Papers. Mais cette dernière doit aussi faire face à son conseil d'administration et à la future entrée en bourse de son journal. Le film s'achève sur l'arrêt de la Cour Suprême New York Times Co. v. United States, dans lequel les équipes du Washington Post s'alignent avec celles du New York Times parmi les parties convoquées, ce qui ouvre la voie sur la scène finale, montrant le Watergate de nuit, théâtre du scandale du Watergate, démarré en 1972 et qui mettra fin à la présidence Nixon en 1974.

The film begins with John Jasper, choirmaster of Cloisterham Cathedral, in an opium den, hallucinating about strangling his nephew, Edwin Drood, in full view of his fiancée, Rosa Bud. Edwin Drood later visits Cloisterham, initially to see Rosa, before going off to his uncle's house. His arrival at the Nuns' House, the boarding school where Rosa lives, is met with much excitement by the other occupants, while Rosa appears indifferent at best. It is soon apparent that theirs is an odd relationship and Rosa shows little passion for it, something Edwin communicates to his uncle after the visit. In the same scene, the attraction Jasper seems to have for Rosa, as indicated in his earlier hallucination, is buttressed by a drawing of her enjoying pride of place on his wall, which Edwin believes he has kept because he (Edwin) was the artist.

Gwen and Rhys are a Welsh-speaking couple living in Cardiff where Rhys works as a photographer and Gwen is employed as a historical interpreter at a local Welsh cultural centre. Gwen is also an aspiring actress and although she periodically attends auditions, she has yet to be hired for a theatrical part. The couple's inability to conceive a child has caused increasing tension between them.
