Timur Nuruakhitovich Bekmambetov (Russian: Тиму́р Нуруахи́тович Бекмамбе́тов; Kazakh: Темір Нұрбақытұлы Бекмамбетов; born June 25, 1961) is a Kazakh director, producer and screenwriter who has worked on films and commercials. He is best known for the film Night Watch (2004) and its sequel Day Watch (2006), and the American films Wanted (2008) and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012).
À l'âge de dix-neuf ans, il s'installe à Tachkent en Ouzbékistan, où il est diplômé de l'Institut théâtral A. Ostrovsky. Après son service militaire, il travaille pour le studio Uzbekfilm et pour le théâtre Ilkhom. Il commence sa carrière de réalisateur dans le monde de la publicité en travaillant pour plus de cinq cents marques.
En 1994, il passe au cinéma en réalisant et produisant son premier long-métrage La Valse de Peshawar.
Il dirige ensuite Gladiatrix en 2001, un remake d'un film de 1974.
Puis en 2004, il scénarise et réalise Les Sentinelles de la nuit (Night Watch), fondée sur le roman du même nom de Sergueï Loukianenko. Projet ambitieux réalisé avec un budget modeste de deux millions de dollars, le film est un coup d'envoi pour sa carrière. Il produit ce film grâce à la société qu'il crée la même année, Bazelevs Production. La suite Day Watch n'a pas le même succès, mais ce film lui ouvre les portes de Hollywood.
Sorti en 2008, Wanted : Choisis ton destin est son premier film « hollywoodien », avec James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman et Angelina Jolie.
Son style visuel particulier, inspiré du monde de la publicité, en fait un réalisateur très prometteur ; plusieurs projets sont dans son agenda, dont une suite pour Wanted, un remake de Moby Dick et la clôture de la saga Night Watch. Timour Bekmambetov naît le 25 juin 1961 et grandit dans la ville d'Atyraou (alors Gouriev) au Kazakhstan (faisant alors partie de l'URSS).À l'âge de dix-neuf ans, il s'installe à Tachkent en Ouzbékistan, où il est diplômé de l'Institut théâtral A. Anton is still a Night Watch operative, now working with his trainee and romantic interest, Svetlana. As his son Yegor has now become a Dark Other, Anton is forced to secretly destroy evidence of Yegor's attacks on normal people, which violates the treaty, leaving the Night Watch unable to sentence Yegor.

In 1818, Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) lives in Indiana with his parents, Nancy (Robin McLeavy) and Thomas (Joseph Mawle), who works at a plantation owned by Jack Barts (Marton Csokas). There, Lincoln intervenes when he sees his friend, a young African American boy, William Johnson (Anthony Mackie) being beaten by a slaver. Because of his son's actions, Thomas is fired. That night, Lincoln sees Barts break into his house and attack his mother. Nancy falls ill the following day, and dies shortly afterwards. Thomas tells Lincoln that Barts poisoned her, but asks that he promise not try to avenge her death.

The characters from the first film now have children, who have managed to get into the same situation as their parents many years ago. However, this story is not simply a remake of the original movie. Firstly, all of Lukashin's adventures were accidental, whereas here everything is done according to a plan thought up by Pavlik (a friend of Lukashin's). His idea is to help his friend Evgeniy with his loneliness. To this end, he dispatches Lukashin's son Kostya to Petersburg, where he acts in the same manner as his father 30 years ago. In flat 12 he meets Nadejda (who is actually the daughter of Nadejda from the first movie). She has a fiancé called Irakliy, a businessman. Kostantin's task is to lure Iracliy away from the flat, then wait for Nadejda's mother to come; he then makes her call Evgeniy Lukashin. Pavlik persuades Evgeniy to go to St. Petersburg. The plot becomes a story of two fights over a woman: Konstantin vs. Irakliy and Evgeniy vs. Ippolit. Finally Lukashins win the competition, because Irakliy turns out to be too dull for Nadya and Nadejda understands that she was never in love with Ippolit.

In the prologue, which is set in medieval times, the audience is introduced to humans with special powers called The Others (Иные, иной; Inyye, Inoy). The Others are divided into two camps, with each Other either allied with the forces of Light or the forces of Darkness, and the prologue recounts a great battle between the two sides. Geser, the Lord of the Light, realized that the two forces would eventually annihilate each other. He stopped the battle and offered a truce to the forces of Darkness, led by Zavulon. To make sure each side honored its side of the agreement, the Light would have a "Night Watch" to monitor the forces of Darkness at night, and the Darkness would have a "Day Watch" to police the forces of Light during the day. This agreement maintained balance for centuries to come.
