Synopsis
Felix Funicello, écrivain américain d’une soixantaine d’années, revisite pour nous ses souvenirs du Noël de l’année 1962 qui resta, pour différentes raisons, gravé à jamais dans sa mémoire. Cette année-là, il se passe beaucoup de choses dans la vie du petit Felix, dix ans, élève de dernière année à Saint-Aloysius (Saint-Louis), une école catholique stricte et austère. Quelques jours avant Noël, une nouvelle enseignante québécoise laïque remplace temporairement l’institutrice de Felix. Beaucoup plus chaleureuse et ouverte que les religieuses et passionnée par son métier, elle va laisser un souvenir indélébile à Felix. Peu de temps après, une nouvelle élève, Zhenia, fait à son tour son entrée dans la classe. C'est une petite Russe, dont la famille vient d’émigrer aux Etats-Unis. Jolie et plus âgée que les autres élèves, elle ne laisse pas les garçons de la classe indifférents.Actors

Fifth-grader Felix Funicello (Ralff), the cousin of famous Mickey Mouse Club Mousekteer and teen idol/movie actress Annette Funicello, lives in the fictional small town of Three Rivers, Connecticut. In 1964, he and his classmates at St. Aloyius Gonzaga Parochial School have a momentous fall semester after lay substitute teacher Madame Frechette (Ringwald) and Zhenya, a new student from Russia, arrive. In Kenosha, Wisconsin, Ivy, editor at her high school paper, and her long-term boyfriend Seth are in their final year of high school and already have been accepted at good colleges; before Ivy goes to college to study journalism, she will go on a trip to Paris with her mother for her graduation present, while Seth will go to Caltech to study architecture. With the help of Ivy's best friend Laura, Ivy and Seth spend a weekend together, where they sleep together, and Ivy becomes pregnant. They announce the news at Thanksgiving, and neither Ivy's mother Denise, who was abandoned by her husband and brought up Ivy alone, nor Seth's Catholic parents are very supportive. Respectively, they urge the young couple to have an abortion or give up the baby for adoption. Ivy plans to have an abortion, but does not go through with it, much to Seth's relief.

Ellie Parker is a semi-autobiographical story of an Australian actress struggling to make it in Hollywood. Ellie is young enough to still go to auditions back and forth across L.A., changing wardrobes and slapping on makeup en route, but just old enough that the future feels "more like a threat than a promise". Anna Foster (Mandy Moore) is the daughter of President of the United States James Foster (Mark Harmon). After Secret Service agents ruin a first date, Anna demands less supervision. In 1965, Peter Joseph "Peejoe" Bullis lives in a small town in Alabama during the height of the Civil Rights Movement. He becomes involved with a group of black students protesting the town's racially segregated municipal swimming pool, leading to a protest that explodes into deadly violence. A young black boy, Taylor Jackson, is killed by the town sheriff. Peejoe, the only witness, is pressured by the sheriff to keep it quiet.
